--and as someone who has fired his fair share of rifles and shotguns-- anyone that knows anything about guns will tell you they'd never look down the barrel of a misfired weapon. Shit, I wouldn't even look down the barrel of an empty weapon.

Also, I don't know about the possibility of a primer igniting seconds after being struck by a firing pin.

But I'm sure weirder things have happened than this.
