Yeah. I don't understand why so many owners have their heads in the sand regarding this issue.

The TV biz learned very quickly that piracy makes it impossible for them to make mass profits selling TV shows online... so they adapted. Go see http://abc.go.com and watch their full episode streams. They monetized free in a way that makes sense for them.

Obviously we can't beat the pirates... so what are we gonna do to develop our business for the future? We are going to have to monetize free. There's no "if, ands or buts" about it.

Actually the time to act was when everyone already had acted.
When the CDA was passed into law every free site had put themselves behind an AVS because they thought it would be law.

Once the courts struck down the CDA people started giving shit away for free again, even though they were making more money using the AVS systems.

If we had just stuck with a self imposed age verification system things would most likely be different.
