other than to block it, why would a mainstream company (with the exception of the loony people at PETA) want to own a .xxx site for their mainstream company ?

Anyone can pay the $300 extortion fee to get their name blocked, but if I remember correctly Lawley stated that only members of the adult industry would be able to buy .xxx domains. But then again, that wouldn't be his first lie....

Supposedly it is only for adult sites. That has been the premise of my recent questions to them. WTF does Pepsi have to worry about pepsi.xxx?

If I'm not mistaken $200 is the fee that goes to the ICM. Registrars can ask whatever they want on top of that, resulting in prices like $300.

                    h***://www.eurodns.com : ?195 + VAT: $263 + VAT : +- $320 inc VAT.

                    http://www.haynesboone.com/es/newsro...6-37eb7c35fe43 :
Registars? fees vary but typically range from $200 to $500 per mark.
                    h***://www.webnames.ca : $349
                    same site:
Names that have been blocked during Sunrise B cannot be unblocked and converted into resolving names without being made generally available.
hmm, doesn't this contradict one of their statements?

                    h***://www.knipp.de : ?249 (inc vat) : $ 336 inc VAT

There's going to be more names blocked than registered probably. That's where their money will be made. Convince mainstream that your adult extension is going to explode and that some asshole's going to get your name in the extension unless you block it, and...
