That is not nuts,it's a normal thing with every online proccesor, not just with epassporte.
Correct. Its probably Visa that wants the money back, so do you expect them to pay out of their own pocket?
Of course I would want them to go after PimpingJ since they have his private address, but since you received the money, and the money "was fake" or what you call it - then they can do what they did.
Its like if you buy a stolen TV and the cops find out. They will take the TV and you don't get your money back. Its of course hard for you to know that these money was stolen, but its the risk you take when dealing with people like that.
Im sorry. Your situation SUCK - agree, but Epass did what they can and should do.
Offline and online money proccesing are two totaly different thing.I have had my visa debit card stolen before and charged on....the bank ate the fees and went after the thief, I got my money back within 2 days
epassporte should be eating the charges, plain and simple, it was their fault for accepting the stolen card and allowing that much money to be charged on it
Correct. The difference here is he received stolen money. If you received stolen or laundered money on your bank account, you would have to pay it back as well.
Epass is more a processor than a Bank. A bank, by law, have to refund you the money and go after the thief if money is stolen from you.
If you did a paypal/epass exchange, you can go to Paypal and they will have to give you your money back.
It sucks, but Epass just followed the law.
I just wich that Epassporte would call people up when they froze their accountComment

I was wondering same.I think that card was used for opening epassporte account, and first card doesnt require verification, only additional cards. In shortly they should verify each card as alertpay do.You cant add credit card there unless you send all requied documents including paper with your written permission(that's good thing)i've just added a credit card to my epass account and i have to fax them:
"a copy of front and back of the credit card, copy of ID, copy of a recent statement for the card with your name and address on it." to verify the card
so the question is, if these are the requirements, then how can someone use a stolen credit card?? makes no sense at all!
Best solution to prevent that is to avoid large transcations. For example i been chargebacked 1743$ before two weeks(paypal to epass transfer)
This times you cant trust anyone.Comment

when a store gets an online order from a stolen credit card and sends the goods to the address, later the payment gets charged back....is visa going to eat up the charges or will the store pay them all + interest?
how does the store supposed to know he the cc is stolen?Comment

More important than Epass fucking over a customer, (whats new), is that another gfy regular has been identified as a scammer - Pimpin_J"WTF, on google you can find the answer to every question in human history, EXCEPT how to convert cams..

What a bunch of bullshit. Say I'm a web designer and you rip some guy off for $1000. You then use that $1000 to pay for design work. You think I should then lose my hard earned money because somewhere down the line somebody got fucked? Where do you draw the line? If I spend that money on hosting and can't afford to pay the money, can I then expect my hosting company to refund me 'cause the money is stolen? I fucking think not. This situation is bullshit.26 + 6 = 1Comment

it may be but here's another example. I break your TV, so I owe you a TV. I go and steal one and give it to you. The cops find out. Guess what, you have to give the TV back.Comment

That's a piss poor analogy. Some guy rocking up to your house with a TV is just a tad different to you accepting payments via a third party processor for legitimate business dealings.26 + 6 = 1Comment

And where do they draw the line on this? I've accepted ePassporte payments from someone who it turns out has ripped some people off. Not with stolen credit cards, just with deals not being honored and the like. Is my account at risk?26 + 6 = 1Comment

So, as a customer I should play police and check if someone is doing legit business or not before accepting payments ?
Fuck it, that's ridiculous it's not my job, if epass is unable to get the money from the scammer directly, and there are legal ways for them to do so, it's their bad luck, not mine.
Freezing the account makes it even more ridiculous...don't shit where you eat, epass !Comment

ok I have to post to this.
If we as a company accept a stolen credit card to pay for services, we have to eat it and refund it all to the card holders account. That simple.
Yes have had similar on paypal also taking back because the person used a stolen card with them.
My question has always been the same, we pay if we accept a stolen card, can't say it happens a lot due to fruad protection and phone calls to confirm things but it can and does happen to anyone in business, so what makes paypal or epass any different. They are the ones that accepted the card.DanL

like was michael told me it was from stolen creditcard mr. kimJI.. so i think if pimpinj verify the account its epass problem that they verified that stolen cc that pimpinj used to pay us!!!! damnit i wish ive thought of this before i told them to get the money back off from my account!!!!Who said stolen creditcard? I have not seen anyone mention that here. I would think someone down the line did a charge back from their bank, which would lead up to the bank asking Epass to give them some money, and in the end it means they take the money back from your account.

Ahhh ok, so when they bust a drug dealer they go to the grocery store where he bought food and make them give them all the money he used to buy groceries, and then his cell phone company has to give the feds all the money he paid on his cell phone bill, and his landlord......
Gimme a fucking break. It's EPASSPORTE's job to detect fraud UPFRONT, when the account is opened.
Once you allow someone to load money, send it to someone else, and then allow that other person to withdraw the money, it's done, it's over.
You should have caught the fraud on the way in, not weeks after the fact.
Epass is gonna go down soon anyways, they way they're allowing U.S. citizens to fund gambling accounts with their service is gonna be the end for them.sig too bigComment

Wrong analogy. Completely the wrong way to look at it.simply declaring "so what, i bought a stolen car... its mine now, there's no fucking way i am giving it back" doesn't mean you now are the rightful owner of the vehicle because you paid for it.
it means you are going to get prosecuted for several crimes if you don't hand it over

Completely absurd.
Here's why this is the wrong way to view this: In this case no one has bought a car, they have simply done business with this pimpin_j idiot using epass in good faith like anyone else. If anything it is that "good faith" part of the equation which has broken down, because it is Epass's responsibility to catch fraudsters and prevent them from using stolen CC's.
If pimpin_j had of paid me for $1200 worth of work, say design work or SEO etc, he shouldn't have been able to pay me with a stolen CC in the first place. If he does, how does it justifiably become my fault, and how am I breaking any laws by accepting payment when I have no way myself to verify his card or anything?
By rights the crook himself, in this case pimpin_j, should be the one that has to repay all the money he stole, not those who were just doing business as usual.
Just add this to the pile of reasons why I haven't ever applied for an Epassporte account, and never will until they get their shit 100% together. They've had how many years now to iron out these kinds of kinks yet it seems every other week there are a crop of webmasters hitting the boards with problems, many are the same old problems as others complained about before them.
Indeed, why can't there be an adult-friendly sytem run by a company that is going to LISTEN to the complaints of webmasters and all those working in adult, and fix things accordingly? Why? I don't have an answer, does anyone?Promote Wildmatch, ImLive, Sexier.com, and more!!

Sorry, but Paypal does NOT follow the same policy. I do a lot of business on eBay, and I have had someone pay me via an instant transfer that bounced, and also using a stolen credit card. In both cases Paypal asked me for more info regarding the transaction, mainly to make sure I shipped the item. Once I provided them that info they released the funds to me and went after the scammer. Don't get me wrong, Paypal is a flaming pile of monkey shit, but they are still a million times better than that fucking bush league operation Epass.Comment

Best quote yet.
Personally I cant wait to laugh when Epass goes down and all the yahoos who love Epass will have to eat their words.
No way should they have taken that money.

You're way off the mark on that one. As an ePassporte merchant you can get hit with chargebacks. And the disturbing thing is you can get hit with chargebacks that are over a year old. We just got handed chargebacks on Monday from sales done in May 2006. This doesn't seem the least bit reasonable to me.
As a p2p transfer you can't get hit with a 'chargeback' but you sure can get shafted by them clawing back funds. And how deep does that go? If someone pays me $1000 and I then use $999 of it to pay someone else, then refuse to give it back like this guy did, do they go after the person I paid next and tell him he has to give the funds back?
