I learned this from a seminar about 10 years ago at my 1st show, not to waste my time because they are just commericials for whoever is speaking and that time can be spent better one on one...

LOL That's so true. When I read your reply, I couldn't help but laugh.

I've been to a few and every time it was the same thing, from a SEO 'expert' trying to sell you his $8,000 special seminar package or a company giving advice on reducing bandwidth costs, who also happens to be a web hosting company who has one heck of a deal for all people who attend their seminar, which also just so happens to be their published special a week later, a company teaching you about the best way to make money, also happens to have a form you can fill out for their affiliate program and send all your traffic to them.

I'd have to say the first Qwebec Expo and it was Eric Senecal formerly from GammaCash that was one of the main speakers. Not only was he giving site building, traffic tips, (enough for someone to figure out what to do) he wasn't acting like the poster child either - he appropriately pitched Gamma a few times but he didn't overwhelm the crowd and most certainly didn't overstep the other speakers. His savoir-faire intrigued people and sparked loads of post-seminar/show business for him.

Depends on which show you're at. I've been part of panels where plenty of good information was given. Now, if you're talking about a typical AVN sponsored show, then that's a different story.

I hope people learn when I'm speaking at a seminar, which is why I like to do the Newbie talks - you always get great results, people who listen, and end up coming up to you during a show- or even the next one - and tell you they followed your advice and it worked, etc etc... score one for me!

But I tend to go to seminars where I don't know about stuff (like when the cascading billing programs were starting to get big), so yeah I learn something whenever I choose to hit one.

And I don't know too many people who actually keep secrets in this business lol - either we're too proud to keep our mouths shut about stuff or we're hoping someone will "borrow" the idea and take it to the next level...
