How to bring down the torrent sites and *tubes

It's really quite simple.

The only thing you have to do is to convince their visitors not to visit their
advertisers anymore or force their advertisers to drop them.

Do that successfully, and they will quickly go out of money - especially the *tubes.

Now, how do you convince their visitors not to visit their advertisers anymore? A bigger problem, it seems.

One method could be convincing their visitors to make the advertisers unreachable through their hosts file. That would be great, right?

But who are their visitors? Why, everyone of course.

Also, it's way too technical for the average computer user. So, it would have to be done through a simple program. But... why would people download that program?

Because it also blocks spyware and malware, perhaps?

Creating a program that blocks both known spyware/malware sites, as well as the advertisers in question, could be done relatively quickly.

The only problem remaining would be to get the program to surfers. Then again, with the enormous amounts of traffic in the adult industry, millions of surfers could be reached in a matter of weeks.

To sum it all up: it would be very, very easy for the adult industry to fuck with the torrent sites as well as their advertisers.

Anyone up for it?

Maybe you can't win the war, but if part of the adult industry did this it would gain some important ground.

Something like this, done well, would hurt those who advertise on torrent sites and *tubes quite a bit. It would simply kill a portion of their traffic. Combined with webmasters not using affiliate program that advertise on torrent sites and *tubes, it could be enough to dissuade them from that type of advertising altogether.

The torrent sites would live, probably, but the *tubes have high bandwidth costs, so getting dropped by a lot of sponsors would probably kill them.

They won't know they're taking down the torrent sites. They'll think they're just getting rid of annoying advertising

(torrent sites would not be blocked by it, because then it would just get uninstalled)

First of.. I wouldnt download any program that isnt on a site like download.com and has been certified no spyware... Second.. if you get a software there.. you need to disclose everything that it does... So you want it to block ads ONLY on torrent sites and tubes...? I think youd have to disclose that... (and btw, dont you think those sites can have a warning at the top of their page saying dont use that software or we will have to shut down? )

You wouldn't, many people would.

Disclosing anything it does... no problem. Say it blocks known sites with spyware, malware, questionable business practices, advertising on illegal sites, etc. Include a list with all the blocked domains if you want. Very few people are going to say "oh my God! it blocks Fleshlight!".

And yes, they can have a warning. In that case, the people who use the torrent/*tube sites might uninstall. All the other surfers - the majority - would still be blocked.

The basic idea is simple: if a site advertises on torrent sites and/or *tubes, it gets blocked for shitloads of people.

I like your initiative but what you're really suggesting is that porn surfers are going to trust porn sites to help them block spyware, etc.? The very sites that they believe - rightly or wrongly - is responsible for most of the spyware in the first place?

Yep. Most people are idiots.

And the blocker software, being clean, would eventually build up its own reputation (to seduce the less stupid). That, and while it would be promoted on adult sites, the site it's on should itself be entirely non-adult, with a decent, simple design (yes, that really does help).

Sorry to say, but its not going to happen that way. The best thing to do, would be convince the Gubment that the torrent sites make it easy for children to get free porn. And see what they do.

Most likely they will continue after us instead.

You bring them down when you make advertisers choose: You can be on all these honest sites, or you can be on torrents. If you are advertising on Torrents, then I cannot have you on normal sites.

It requires the sponsors to say "We will not allow our free content to appear on pages with any other advertisments except out own" and "we do not permit our ads to be on the ame sites as these sponsors: " and they can list of sponsors that are not acceptable.

The sites and the content providers know who is supporting the theft of their content. They need to snap out of their bros-beer induced stupor and start acting to protect their rights and their honest affiliates.
