show floor was much smaller then any year i have been and i have been going to shows for a long time.
Most of the action and deals are happening either in the cabanas or at the splash bar. Had lunch today with some real old timers and I have been around scine 99.
Good business done though
bikini contest was SMOKING hot the chicks were amazing
Didnt make it to the wet t-shirt contest but saw some video from it and it also looked very hot

I haven't been to a show in a couple of years, but I can tell you exactly what you are missing in Miami:
Nothing.
It use to be that programs and companies geared their releases to the show circuit. There was 3 or 4 shows a year that were major, and everyone pretty much set themselves up that way. The best way to get huge exposure was to do it through the shows.
Not anymore. There are now a dozen or more shows and events each year, and those events are more and more social and decidedly less trade show oriented. The show floor gets smaller and smaller as fewer and fewer companies have major business to discuss or new projects to reveal, and most just come onto boards like this and announce new things as they happen, not waiting for shows to release new stuff.
So if you are like me, you are missing not meeting up with the friends in the business you don't see very often, but from a business standpoint, you are probably just as up to date surfing here as you are being at the show.

while i agree with the show floor getting smaller there are still alot of people doing alot of biz. I did some HUGE deals today. and when I say HUGE i mean it
I dont brag about shit on the boards but this has been a very profitable show for alot of the people i know
and its not only about seeing old friends. Seeing old friends who know someone u dont know who u can do new biz with on a face to face basis. That can be worth the trip to any show

Be wary of the above quote, take it with a grain of salt and read the following line very carefully:
Seeing old friends who know someone u dont know who u can do new biz with
.... just saying. It's not always what you know in this biz, when it comes to shows (or anything, really), it's who you know. It's not a bad or good thing, it just is. And whenever you read someone saying "new biz", it's really nothing new, just more people joining in the circle-jerk.
Forest, with all respect, those same deals could happen over a phone, on a golf course, or if the same group of people got together for drinks. The "show" isn't as much a show anymore as a social excuse.
I am glad for those who made deals at the show and made a ton of money. Now they can all go back how and turn down the shave so the rest of us don't have to pay for thier bar tab.
Another thing you might miss is the bought "content" wearing next-to-nothing / nothing-at-all surrounded by a sausage-fest. That's always a fun scene to be around.
