    Why is GFY not migrating to a Social platform?

    With all the social sites around I'm wondering why GFY is not switching to a social script.

    Now with FB and the FB/Adult industry group around in time GFY will lose its holy ground.

    Maybe its time to rethink strategy?

      just because something new comes along doesn't mean what's already been established is destined to become a relic. internet forums aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

      i hate Facebook and Twitter even moreso.

                          On the 'funny' route, GFY has more ANTIsocial people then social people, so getting a social setting going here would be a tough job.

                          All jokes aside, YES the web is becoming more and more of a streamlined social place for SOME people, and in the adult industry there has already been a few sites that took that 'social network' route, and well, we all still post here don't we?

                          The problem I see, is that MANY people around this industry do NOT want to be social (aside from shows let's say) and with our current state of affairs of companies folding, scammers scamming, etc etc how smart would it really be for those people to have "extra" info available for ppl to dig through?

                          For example: huge Adult network, and Sam Sunshine (fake person) is using it, he has some friends and family on it as well, Sam Sunshine rips off thousands of wm's and flee's now how long before the great adult detectives are sending messages to his friends and family members?

                          I just don't see a lot of the "big" people getting involved for various reasons, BUT I bet it COULD work if someone wanted to step up and "do it right"

                          With all that said, There ARE already decent sized adult webmaster "groups" and "circles" on FB and G+ so if you just have to get your adult webmaster social fix, it's out there.

Texas Dreams even went so far as to have a working demo, very similar to Adult Who's Who. In fact, I think it was the same exact software. I think the idea was dropped because we didn't want to come across as copying someone else's business model.

                                                                      Although when I was at ICS everything GFY related was Eric's thing, not mine.

                                                                          GFY is what it is, the #1 adult webmaster forum now and for the foreseeable future, because it's the forum of choice for a ton of people who have no interest in being social with other webmasters beyond the shit that gets posted here - it's filled with anti-social people but a lot of those anti-social people are very successful, more successful than the tradeshow crowd who are there usually on the company they work for's dime.

                                                                                      The arguments provided in this thread all make sense now. Personally I login almost daily at GFY and doing that since 2004.

                                                                                      The FB - Adult Industry group is growing fast, its now on 401 members but its not as educating as GFY.

                                                                                              Sometimes it's best to keep things simple. For example, they might upgrade to something fancy and then realise it takes 3 times as long to load; posters get frustrated and don't bother anymore.

                                                                                              It's wrong to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading, it would need to be justified

Porn was and will be forever a part of the society, but never be official theme of talks - unless it's not bound to something bad like : child pornography, traffics, prostitution/ the society puts that in a same group along with the porn/ and the crime - even though it's not crime.
                                                                                                      It's not prestigious - but people are looking for it.
                                                                                                      I guess gfy is unique / or at least I'm that ignorant for not knowing about another similar site where the industry meets business - and there are one and a same people who post here - everyday - which is not bad, and that gives the spirit of society. Like the kids who play in front of their houses. You know each other very well - you swear, curse and joke/fuck around with each other, but you still do the business. If gfy comes to be more social that means that there will be more people who will complain - too many perverts who will look for free porn, too many scammers who will look to fuck up your business.

                                                                                                      The leading keyword in successful group /platoon, dance group, marriage etc - everyone of the mentioned is a part of society - so the keyword is TRUST.
                                                                                                      So would you trust someone you did not checked / with some small purchases first, then with a bigger one? Social network and porn's not mixing the way I see, or imagine.

GFY is unique in his kind, just like Xbiz.net is and now the new Google Circles and FB group.

                                                                                                                              However I'm experimenting with a social script but its for consumers because FB has a strong censorship against porn.

                                                                                                                                                                                  From a personal point of view are all those social sites pretty time consuming, however the whole world already jumped on the social wagon (fb, twitter, linkedin).

                                                                                                                                                                                  The GFY forum is in my opinion pretty good, maybe some minor improvements. Going social with GFY is not really appreciated if you read the statements from other GFY'ers which I fully understand.
