That is my estimate - 55% of the posters on here have no contact or business relationships outside of gfy. Grabbing content from an affiliate program is the closest they get to actually being in the "industry" yet they post and brag about how much of a player they are.

any other estimates?

Sure - 55% don't have a viable business - forget any relationships.

The remaining 45% have "something" in varying degrees or are employed or representing a company.

There are also far more people involved in the online adult industry than those who post here.

I would go with that.On the other hand you have the guys like one I recently met. He doesn't go to shows or meets,is rarely on any boards just works real hard and makes over 200k a year.

Noticed a lot of that as well Tony. Most of the people I know don't even visit here, tho they have been in the online side of the biz since it started - and a good number were in "adult" before online became commercial.

Same with shows - used to go to almost all of them, but very rarely now. It's also surprising that some of the main players (folks who have actual bricks/mortar plus online presence and run substantial companies) in the adult industry have never ever been to an internet show.

Agree - there are plenty hard-working webmasters around earning good revenues and who have very little, if any, contact with boards - bets are that helped them earn more money

I'd say the percentage is probably higher but what exactly is the point of this thread?

Many of us have neighbors, friends, family and mainstream business partners (as I, PR nightmare) that would not approve of us selling pornography.

I have an extremely active social life and have friends in some pretty high and respected places in Boston. The last thing I want is my face plastered across some industry meeting.

I have respect for all involved in this industry but being a poster boy isn't for everybody. Therefore I use GFY as my tool to see what's hot, new and going on in the industry as well as coming here to fuck around or "take the piss" (damn brits).

Most my business comes in via referral's or inquries about my traffic.
If I wanted to solicit my self to a bunch of broke fucks I guess a board is a pretty good place to do it.
