Indeed, "The Power of the WordPress Community" would be able to continue development of this product, regardless of what happens to a single individual. I was a Nuke fan in the day and enjoyed the dev community, but the WordPress guys have it beat hands down.

Not bashing him because his products and support are great, but JMB is an example of the other end of the spectrum, where one guy is pretty much the drive/genius behind the whole thing (active community or not). Top-notch adult targeted software and tools, but real life takes its turns and one day, you wake up and say, "Sorry squire, duck's off..."

That last line was a Fawlty Towers reference, but I digress

The members of this community are truly inspiring. When a call for help was placed, you responded and we hit our goal of $6000 within 90 minutes. We certainly hope that if another member of the community ever needed it, you?d respond the same way. And that?s part of the reason, having met our goal of $6000, we?re electing to shut down the fund.

We arrived at the amount of 6k based on an educated guess of what would help him with living expenses over the next few months and some medical bills. If we discover there is a great need for further fundraising, we will certainly open the fund back up, but at the moment, we feel its irresponsible to raise money without knowing what?s really needed. The money we?ve raised (about $6500) will go a VERY long way towards helping Ptah get himself back on track and alleviate stress of providing for himself during this time.

The money in the account, totaling $6,100.60 (the total amount of donations minus fees) was transferred to Ptah?s account this morning.The receipt below is provided for transparency. Please feel free to continue to comment and Ptah will surely receive those comments. Thank you, all, again.

so yes, even if you're one of the users between millions WHO ACTUALLY FOUND OUT, the donation form was closed 1 and a half later. Anyway, I really don't get why people hates on absolutely everything, geez guys, relax a little

Pretty nice! There may be millions of WP users for sure, but I guess only a few of them know who Ptar was, they just used the service without looking further, let alone knowing who operate WP (even I used to have a site in WP and had no idea who this dude is until now). If anything, $6k in a few hours is impressive in my book.
