Without getting you angry, why didn't you shoot for magazines?
Excellent second market to the Internet.
It was still around in 2008. Smaller but still there.Comment

Because he might have ended up 61, broke, begging for money and spending all of his final years, all day, every day, posting shit no one reads or cares about on a forum that he's no longer relevant at?
Even when he is pretending to be on holiday?
Arsewithclass has models who claim he wont pay them. Read his pathetic excuse here http://www.gfy.com/showpost.php?p=17...&postcount=102Comment

not angry Paul, I got disabled from my job in 1999. stated shooting for the internet... times were hard, cash flow was slow... had no connections for magazines, when I did have the connections I was making 200k a year and didn't want to deal with waiting 6 months to get paid for a set, plus didn't really have the time or energy to keep track of it.. .Comment

I started learning to shoot in 1995 I think... never occured to me to shoot adult. after losing EVERYTHING in 1999 with a daughter in grade school I had to earn, so I emailed all the websites and ATK answered... started shooting with a nikon F, 58mm 2.8, a meter and a set of novatron strobes... each shoot was 20 rolls of film

Been a fan of some of the artwork (I'm assuming) you have at your place.
Care to share some of the artists name, not familiar with them.
I'm an art geek.--

I would say by hanging with that crowd be the only way... then you'll know all the galleries and peeps and websites.... because 'if you aren't there, you ain't them...and if you ain't them, they won't care about ya and your work...'
I wrote a novel once and took it to a small press, in person... the guy (screaming fag) looked at me and said: we would never be interested in anything 'YOU' could possibly do... see what I mean?Last edited by Grapesoda; 08-24-2011, 12:37 PM.Comment

the biggie is not going with a reputable producer.... I've seen lots of problems in that area...
what I've done in the past with clients is to go over the budgets, content needs and update schedules to try and find a way to maximize the productions. getting the models all in the room is the biggest battle, adding a few bucks to get a few extra updates is a no-brainier.
for instance if the shoot a basic BG shoot, is it possible to shoot a solo set as well as a BG set and is even possible to shoot a solo vid as well as a sex vid... then again does the client have slots for that content on their site or do they have other sites they can drop the content into...
also need to make sure that the producer produces what you want... I shoot 'teen' and 'hairy' and few other things compentently... I don't shoot puke and gag humilation, I don't really like to shoot pick up locations and I don't really shoot BABE content... see what I mean? so I would let the client know of other shooters that would be more suited to the content than me...
best thing is to look at the content you like and figure out who is shooting it, and then figure out if they are the reliable, afforadable, available and easy to work with because at some point there are ALWAYS issues that need be resolved. I had a client once that was misserable to deal with, I don't shoot for them any more.
quality of content is totally subjective as are the quality of the girls. I've posted plenty of pics here of girls that are converting and retaining sales with extremely high member ratings that are completely dogged out by the GFY crowd. As Bill once said to me: you want to popular on an internet forum or make money. I prefer money. I'll let the other photographers be popular.
more about girls, I let the client pick the girls HOWEVER if the models looks bad or has 'issues' I will dump the shoot and move on to the next girl in line... for custom content is preferable to have a prioritized list of models to work though... and pick agents you prefer to work with as well... because there are ALWAYS issues with models and you need to be working with an agency that can help sort them out ... some agencies have a bad reputation in that area so I prefer to stay away from them.
pls email me if you have specific questions I can answer 'sell at bmbhome dot com'Comment

Yes we had to wait from 3 to 18 months for our money. I was able to do that as I built slowly and had an income from the video business. Cash flow wasn't ever a problem.not angry Paul, I got disabled from my job in 1999. stated shooting for the internet... times were hard, cash flow was slow... had no connections for magazines, when I did have the connections I was making 200k a year and didn't want to deal with waiting 6 months to get paid for a set, plus didn't really have the time or energy to keep track of it.. .

If I may answer this.
I have rarely seen the work of a real photographer in the porn field.
Photography is a highly refined skill. So is pornography. The two are not often crossing each others paths.
For the work of a real photographer in an erotic field, look to underwear advertising or eroticism.
The aim of a photographer is to make someone admire his work, the aim of a pornographer is to get a cock hard or a pussy wet.
A few might make it in both fields. Like Micheal Ancher.Comment

Not the only way. That's a perception based on a small reality. Any gallery owner/art director/curator or the like with experience will constantly have an eye out for new talent. While getting your first big "exposure" show will be tough, but not impossible.--

maybe, but they will be more inclined to speak with you if you know the in-crowd, UNLESS you can walk in with stunning work and pretend you're a crazy recluse

If I may answer this. My niece and brother have completed university courses with honours for Art and Photography respectively.
It's down to how good you are at erotic/fetish art photography and how good you are at selling yourself.
A community of successful people will not welcome new blood coming into their field to take away their living. Sending examples of your work to galleries shows a lack of faith in them and opening a site might work but slow.
Get your best work and go and show it to those who would be interested. Galleries, critics, publications in the field. And SELL yourself and the art work. show that you're serious about what you do, have a large portfolio, will keep adding to it and have something new to offer and not a clone of what they already have.
Same rules applies to selling most things.Comment
