Opinions wanted on business ethics...

Ok, this is the fucking deal..

I have my website.. a membership pay site hosted on this persons servers. He solicited me for his services cause his lady and I used to dance together way back when and i have used them for two years. He has great servers..no doubt and has always given excellent service (not always the greatest customer service), I have little to no down time and have always praised his business.

I got a hack attempt and it brought down the whole server. This is the second time..once last year too. Now, basically this person is saying it is my fault. He says i should be on my own server.

ok, i can agree there..but ugh, why not tell me this when we started.. he knew damn well this could happen, and he knows i am very server ignorant...or was. I dont send hackers to my site to bring it down. Anyhows, dude and i are talking on the phone.. and he is being a prick and i guess he didnt want to hear that i dont have $500 to pop out my ass to pay for a server . He hung up.. and took my site down. Now he has been paid for the year per our agreement.. I have about 8 months left.

Now is this dude being a cocksmoker and having a pissy fit..or do you server owners think he is being just and fair?

LESSON: NEVER FUCKING PREPAY ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY WEBHOSTING.

That being said, i'm sure XFR, sinhost or Candid will take you. You'll have to figure out how to get the money back from asshole.

What is the $500 he wanted for? ($500 a month, $500 for setup, $500 asshole tax?)

My opinion is hanging up on client is not good for business and I don't own a hosting company but if you have a paysite you should probably have a dedicated server with a reputable company. Sounds to me like maybe neither your nor him accurately predicted the chain of events that brought down the server.

Try a big company like Conepuppy or National-Net. They've been around for years and it's all good

i cant bitch too much about the money..it was a good deal...

He wanted $500 for a used server and he would colocate it for me....

I told him not to punish me for something that he supposedly was wise upon...he offered the deal.. he didnt offer me my own server to begin with..he told me it was on a server with only 6 other websites (his big money sites.. and how he has to give refunds)..That is his fucking fault for not looking after his own ass and offering me a dedicated server to begin with. ... days i want to reach out and touch someone....fuuuuccccckkk.

thanks for the hosting recomendations.. i am looking into them right now..

Conepup is golden. I used them for years -- I think 4usbyus hosts with them...

Rule #1 so many of these cocksuckers you will deal with in this biz don't have any ethics and that's why many of them are in this biz. Sorry to hear you got screwed. Did you specifically have to have a colo server, why not just a good dedicated with one of the reputable companies out there?

I really dont have to have a colocated server.. i will have to go with someone soon.. like tomorrow..lol. If i have my back up..oh boy. I really did not think he would be a prick like that to me.. but i guess being 2000 miles away from me has its advantages ..or so he thinks... now to e-mail clients and let them know ..ugh..the dreaded

I was a stripper for 15 years... recently retired..

I also worked in the Austin Ballet theater and danced there when i was alot younger..but no more.
