    Photographers: What Are Your Make-Up Hints/Tips/Tricks for Bruises, Scars, Stretchmarks, etc?

    Photoshop may be a photographer's best friend (after his cameras and lenses), however, it is nice to not have to spend so much time in post-production, if you can do something about it in pre-production.

    I shoot lots of go-go girls and fetish models, so bruises are a fact of life...

    One of my MUA's is a miracle worker with DermaBlend:

                          Stockings. Hide knife wounds with clothes. Shoot around their bullet hole. Photoshop.

                          Average chicks and hookers from developing countries are often the worst. Motor bike accident scars, fight wounds, odd jungle skin rashes, poorly stitched scars from operations, you name it. You really have to search to find a flawless body.

                              You forgot hideous/incongruous tattoos and the odd pierce / body modification.

                              Which reminds me, I did a recent shoot with another guy shooting stills, and I'm usually telling the model, "arch your back", "let your arm lay across that crease" (trying to be circumspect and keep the model from becoming self-conscious), however, he is telling the model "suck in that gut", and "can you do anything with that fat fold?"

                              The poor girl was on her first paid nude glam shoot and she was nearly in tears. Fortunately, that was the look we were going for...

                                              You said it. Stocking are lifesavers and in some instances just going with full pantyhose to cover nasty motorbike tailpipe tattoos, blotchy skin, bruises from hip injections/whatever.

                                              A well-planned outfit is the best thing to cover most/all imperfections. Rarely is there a need to have a model completely naked anyways.

                                                      One chick came in for an interview once. She seemed a little screwed up. When she took her coat off for a quick shoot I saw that she was a cutter, and was cut all the way up her arm. I told her I couldn't use her because of her scars, and she blasted me for being prejiduce against her "lifestyle choice".
