college closure: work at a big IT company OR work for my own biz

Last assignment at college is work external at a company for half a year. Got an appointment with an IT company the end of the week, but im in doubt.
The choice is:
- Work at some company for half a year so that my adult biz will crumble quite a bit.
- Decline the opportunity and try work something out with college to do the external assignment for my own biz (this is possible in a way, already spoke to college about this option).

pros at working at a big company: getting the experience how that goes.
pros at working for myself: getting to grow my biz more, income doesnt get worse, and after it all i can continue with it without a major dip of a half a year.

Already spoke to some people who are aware of my biz, and my fucked up schedule. They say to me they should work for the company to get out this rythm for a while and to get a taste of the corporate life, building experience, good reference for future etc. All pretty logical points.
BUT - i tend to lean more towards working for myself for the obvious reasons.
What would the oh so wise gfy community do?
