Whatis Oh Mobile?

Yeah, dunno... I remember all the "big name" girls around here "signing up" to Oh Mobile and having sites done and going to take over the world... blah blah blah...

then, nothing.

The problem with mobile is that it's controled by the phone companies themselves.... if your not on the "deck" of the phone itself, it's nearly pointless.

We've already seen how advertising on TV doens't carry over to the internet, and I think the market of people who surf the net looking for pix for their phone is rather limited.

Just curious, why do you think it's "easy money"?

I earn a fucking shit load and cant see how people can afford to download stuff on their phones. My carrier sent me a $200 internet bill last month and I only use the internet to check the football scores.

what i mean is I know from talking to other people that its another revenue stream for our exclusive content and its not that hard to set up if you work with the right company ( I'm still looking for the right one . ) I know a lot like Hot Movies there are companies that you can just hand over content to ( with paperwork and all that of course ) and they will set everything up and send you a check for a % or the revenue it produces . I bought a Brazilian production company a few years back and own 52 full titles with 2257. i use that exclusive content for www.Brazilianbitches.com and i have some up on Hot movies.com .. they send me a nice check each month with no work on my end other then handing over the content. I'm looking to do the same in the mobile market.

Only thing I can think of is trying to contact some European carriers that'll take your content, batch it themselves, sell it off their decks and give you a percent. You can also try and setup a wireless site and use programs such as Bango to do billing for one-off downloads or time-based memberships to a WAP site -- even for some US carriers (Cingular works well). You can even try and purchase a couple of SMS short codes and do some "cute" style SMS campaigns in the US that aren't adult - like "text to 666 and get this bikini pic of [hot slut's name] for $1.99". However, after carriers and your SMS aggregator take their cut, you're left with very little.

I spent the last three years working at a US adult company doing such things and the efforts and costs exceeded revenue. Like someone said above, anyone contacting you about a wireless solution, you should be very wary of it "sounding too good to be true". I'm not all-knowing in mobile, just know what I've experienced, and usually the middle-man charging to setup a mobile solution for someone is making the money -- not the company paying for that solution.

Selling from TV doesn't work? Since when? We have done thousands of signups over the years from all the TV spots we have done like 20/20, HBO, etc. We do tons from our Playboy stuff as well. 20/20 did over a couple hundred in a matter of hours then kept selling high for about a week after.

The problem with OhMobile I am guessing is that they were making promises that they could not keep and ran afoul of the carriers. I don't know that is what happened... just a hunch since i always got the "too good to be true" feeling about their pitch...

They should of waited a few years. I think mobile web will be pretty big in the next 2-3 years.

To this day, I wish I never developed OhMobile and spent a year trying to bring mobile and adult in the states.

The press was cool, Nightline, newspapers and our own industy publications. Showing the Microsoft guys what broadband porn looked like on their new Mobile 5.0 OS in their booth was funny.. They didnt know what to think. The people that devloped the streaming solution for oh.tv were amazing. Kinda the first of its kind the way we did it.. Now it seems like a standard.

Anywho.. Let's just say that it took focus away from the important things, and in the long run, let a lot of people down.

I don't think its something I did personally. Believe me, I was sold on the idea.. The numbers were all there.. Maybe I was to ahead of my time.. I dont know.. But I do know that myself and Lori Z. busted our ass to get eyeballs in front the ads, and of course the buzz attracted content partners. So many, I could not intergrate them all.

250M handsets and sex.. sounded real good.

After awhile and painfully realizing that it wasnt working out, I abandon the idea of mobile, released everyone from their contracts, and went back to what I knew. Even back in world of affiliate programs, all I wanted to do is go back under a rock. Working with CE was cool for a few months.. We've been close friends for years.. But that to had to end.

Bummer, It was a great experiance.

I was told that my ego got to big.. I don't know, I guess I can see it.. Everything I touched turned to gold. But still thought I was humble and treated everyone the same. After CE, I just kinda went away... Lost interest in the game. Lost interest in the money. Lost interest in the fight.

Well I'm glad to say that those days are over. I have that same feeling coming back..

But, first things first.. After holding it in for 2 years... I just want to apologize to my content, technology partners and Lori Z, that mobile didnt work out..

The second thing, if anyone ever thought I had an ego, tell me about it. I want to hear why you think that. It doesnt have to be on a chat board.. I have an ICQ, I wont be mad at you.. hell.. If you thought I was an asshole.. then tell me.. I'll respect you more for your honesty.
