Why do most people automatically respect someone who makes a lot of money?

    Why do most people automatically respect someone who makes a lot of money?

    Lets take GFY for example. Most posters here automatically side and agree with people who make a lot of money. No matter what the person says or how he acts, most people here still think he is somehow superior to them, so they automatically suck up to him and agree with anything he does.

    Why is that?

When we are younger something happened (an event, or someone said something,...) and we got programmed by that event. Typically it is a self-worth conversation and or attaching ones self-worth to money/material possessions.

                                                          That is why we tend to give people with money a better listening/respect..

                                                                          Because the guy with money did something right in life. you can learn from him. if I'm in a group of people and someone there has more success then me i want to pick his/her brain a bit and see what they've learned on the way up that may apply to what I'm doing and taking to the next level. some broke ass hick isn't going to teach me a thing and that doesn't mean i can't hang with him it just means i hold the wealthy man in higher regard .

                                                                                      There are cases were a wealthy guy just got lucky and is an asshole that can teach ya a thing but I know I'm not talking about that guy. you also have guys with not much money that have learned big lessons in life and are very smart. I hold them just as high as a guy that has had success . I think it depends on more then just a black and white "If they have money"

                                                                                                                                  It may be just chance, but most of the people I know who are either very wealthy or live a modest livestyle are generally modest in their achievements. One appears not to be wealthy person - had to ask for his CV and got a 50+ page edition in response (wish I never ever asked for that - embarassing!!). He had achieved more in his life - more than I ever will - and recieved high recognition for his work globally. He is a very modest man and totally honorable tho personal wealth is not on the top of his agenda/ambitions, but he is *very* rich in other ways on many different levels.

Most people that are rich don't spend a lot of money on things that don't make them even richer. So also not on people that are nice to them.

But, I'd venture to guess, as this board has shown over the years, "most" people here who say and try to prove they've "earned" their money, either 1. Really have no money and are lying via a proxy, or 2. Scammed the fuck out of a lot of people.

                                                                                                                                                  So, in regard to this board and most posters, you're left with a very small percent of people you should ever listen to.... or Paris Hilton.

                                                                                                                                                          When people think you have no money then they treat you like shit no matter what else you have going for you. I've had too many experiences where I was wearing work-out clothes etc... and decided to do some quick biz or look at something to buy or rent. I got the mega shit treatment almost everytime. I even got charged $2.00 more per drink in a bar once because they thought I was not going to tip. I ended up having a lady I met their go buy my drinks to get a better price.

                                                                                                                                                          I put on some old clothes to do laundry one day then decided to run to the store to get some shampoo and handed the cashier my visa card and she was like "you can't buy that with this".
                                                                                                                                                          I was like "what? I use this card all the time". Then she said "you can't but non-food items with a food stamp card". She didn't even look at the card to see it was a visa!! I had to argue with her to get her to read the card.
                                                                                                                                                          That would not have happened if I had on a $600 suit.

                                                                                                                                                                      They have made lots of scientifical tests about this, and you enter competition with somebody you know you can beat or that's near your level. When somebody is above you, you know not to pick fights you are going to loose.
