Looks like the big host Leaseweb was reamed hard by BREIN. They host many of the big torrent sites. They were forced to shutdown Demonoid (who has since moved to Canada), and give up the owners personal information as well as banking information.

it will all even out. They could only make money for so long before they had too many leaches that would just suck BW away. Same with the other sites. It is only a matter of time before they need to change the biz model. But to what?

Sure, but it's just a matter of time before they get shut down.
They are just a step ahead of the law curve.
It's just the same as napster, they will have to change thier model or be shut down and they will shut down because they only make money by giving porn for free. Once they have to charge they will be competing with everybody else and lose.

Agreed. So blinkered and one track thinking it's amazing.
The problem with the industry is it's thought about the wrong people for nearly a decade. Now it's so far down that road it's vulnerable to competition from people who think outside the little box.
I predict in as little as a year much will change.Comment

"None of the torrent sites have bought my entire catalog and made it worthless by doling it out to a million people for free yet and I will wait until that happens before I get on the bandwagon of legal suits to shut them down."

Did you even read the article? They're all being sued to fuck, shut down and having to find hosting that will allow them to continue infringing on copyrights in other countries.Agreed. So blinkered and one track thinking it's amazing.

They're getting run out of the country. You're just a very confused man Paul. This industry had nothing to do with it.- Free Premium Domain Lists and Tools at Clickmojo.com

Napster had one big server. Take down that server and napster is gone. Same with AudioGalaxy and KazaA.Sure, but it's just a matter of time before they get shut down.

Torrentsites are much more complex. They only host small torrent files (=very low bandwidth). These torrent files point to other servers (called trackers). The trackers hold the information on the clients. Take down all the trackers in the world and the problem is solved. But that is impossible, as anyone can start a tracker.
If you think the torrent model can be shut down, think again. It's way too robust. Surely, you can take down one torrentsite. But then it will move to another country or ten new ones will pop up to replace it.Last edited by Pryda; 07-28-2007, 10:51 AM.Comment
