Saw the preview for it, and first impression, its a blatant attempt to appeal to the younger generation, with corny humor, and most likely something relevant to today. The movie doesn't need to be remade. Just re-watched it again on the weekend and it still holds its own. (Grace Jones is still scary). This Conan should have stayed with Stargate Atlantis and died with it . The film looks like it will be just another failed remake like "Clash of the Titans", worst 3D effects ever IMHO...
Now they are making a re hash of "Jason and the Argonauts".

Nerds talk and fanatic (and somewhat disturbing) loyalty to a cartoon/book aside, the Schwarzenegger movie is not that good of a movie. It was fine for the time, but not a movie that stands the test of time and few people would consider it a good movie had they just became aware of it today and watched it for the first time. It's "OK" at best.
The trailer for the new one made me want to watch it. I'm not a nerd. Just someone that appreciates a couple hours of worthwhile entertainment. It appears like it will be worth the ticket/time.
Comparing this movie to the other Conan movie is absurd given that with the trailer, you can see its an entirely different film, an entirely different story, done on an entirely different scale... and I've seen the original a million times when I was growing up..
Yes, fewer illegal immigrants working equates to more job opportunities for American citizens.

The original Conan character does not look like Arnold too. Conan is over 6 feets tall, cobalt blue eyes, black colored hair - as raven's wing and is a smart one. The Governator/ well.... the ex governor/ is brown - http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_color...rzenegger_have. In all his movies Arnold remains silent - probably for lack of artistic/acting talent. "Get down" and "I'll be back" are his common phrases. Conan can be sarcastic - all the time, he may argues, even though he's barbarian, and to convince people with talks.
Jason Momoa is a pretty boy, a model - he has the height, the muscles, but he looks gentle and elegant - did I said a model ? Conan should be more rough, uncouth /but not unhandy/
I guess they chose him because of his portfolio and previous success in movies he did before - he is pretty famous and the guys who played Conan before are now old dudes.
On the audition of Conan there were many guys with imposing physique who were showing muscles and even the exit of their rears / LOL/ so they should get that role, but the producer picked Momoa - he's cool dude.Comment
