    What free forum is best for a message board?

    what free forum is best for using as a messageboard? there are ALOT out there. VBulletin looks great, and alot of people use it, but itll come out to be $320 or so after instalation, so im thinking a free one would be the way to go for starters

    any suggestions on a good one?

          phpbb comes pretty nice out of the box.

          there's also xmbforum.com, infopop.com has some free shit. i'd say right now phpBB is probably the best free one.
          php/mysql guru. hosting, coding, all that jazz.

              yeah,m actually, that is the first and only one i have came across so far. They looks real good. Just wondering if there are any others.

              And do you have any clue why they offer that board for free? I mean they have no ads on it or anything, how are they gonna make any money off of it? any ideas?

                  ikonboard is pretty damn good, can work with mysql and mod_perl or just regular perl cgi
