Anyone On GFY Lives In Dominican Republic?

How do you like it? Is it easy to do your adult work in DR? Any horror stories about it?

Particularly people in Sosua or Cabarete, I'd like to hear your opinion of these places.

I'm Dominican, and I have a house in Santiago. The second largest city in the country. As for actually working there I have never had a problem with internet connection, or government for that matter.

The biggest problem there that I have faced is pretty much power "electricity" it comes, and go's frequently. As far as models, and content I recommend it. The only thing I would say is, if your living there shooting content you may want to block the ip there. Like everyone knows most "Latin" men are really into the machismo thing, and are SUPER jealous. So seeing there girl friend, wife whatever getting banged by some dude is probably going to bring you some problems.

This is the same story in Puerto Rico, where I live and work.

Not really. They just want tip money every once, and while. Just like with every 3rd world country.

Mostly everything there is legal except for drugs obviously.

Well let's say your car is parked illegally, and they say they want to tow it most likely $5 US should cover it. It depends on what you did wrong. The higher the infraction the higher the tip.

Plus if your looking to stay around the tourists area like sosua more likely than not. Most of the cops will see you and think you just here on vacation, and won't bother you at all.

Ah ok I get it. Would you recommend Sosua or Cabarete? To live there full time for a European?

I would recommend Sosua.

1. One of my favorite beaches there

2. Since your European the one thing you must consider is that the largest amount of tourism that Dominican Republic receives is from Canada, Germany, France, and Switzerland

3. In that part of the country which is the northern shore. You have quite a few international private schools there from Sweden, and Germany. Hence you have more of a concentrated group of European family's living there that would make your transition a little more smoother.

Thanks Omar, thats some really helpful info.

Property is pretty damn cheap in Sosua and Cabarete compared to what you'd get here in the UK for that money. I've saw on some forums they all suggest that people looking to relocate there should rent for the first 6 months to 1 year to see exactly where they want to stay permanent.

That's probably the best advice to take. I'm currently looking to sell my house down there because well I'm never there. I'm looking to get down that way around October, if your already there, or want to come chill out let me know.

I've been talking to a couple of hotel owners down there about possibly doing an adult show there. I wonder what the rest of the board thinks? since I hear alot of people saying that they are kind of tired of going to the same locations.

We've just found a great deal on a vacation for next summer. We'll be there in July next year to do some more research etc, and we'll obviously be checking as much stuff as possible online to get a good feel for everything. Time to brush up on my Spanish as well for the next year haha!
