We hear from vision impaired people fairly regularly when webmasters remove the audible option in Strongbox, or if they are using a very old version without it . A lot of surfers with poor or no vision are used to having the audible captcha option when they see Strongbox.
Keep in mind that vision impairment is a continuous spectrum. Plenty of people need their system font set to 24 or higher and put their eyes a few inches from the screen. They often appreciate a site that puts things in the customary places. Ie. on a plain splash page the big ENTER link goes near the bottom of the page in the center.
I see quite well, worth my glasses, but on many sites sites we work on we have trouble finding the the link to the members' area. People with poor vision won't appreciate that.
Speaking to some legally blind people I'm reminded of the days of Compuserve and Prodigy, when we had postage stamp sized video. You couldn't really see anything, but we were used to that. Christy Canyon at 100x100 pixels was awesome because that's all we had. Hell, standard television is ,352x240, so it's all in what you're used to. When the whole world is super blurry, an equally blurry Sasha Grey is pretty damn sexy.
