The very idea of a large protest has always been a liberal affair.
Then comes in the Tea Party, completely NOT liberal, they are conservative, they have a right to protest, they want as a core, less government spending. Yes other groups are trying to get their voice heard in their, I mean they have a lot of power because of pure numbers and area they cover. But they were heard last November and unless they give up
I see them growing, especially after seeing what the GOP and the Democrats just did with the budget with their unwillingness to make hard choices when everyone is talking about process instead of substance. Deficit targets and triggers are process. Spending cuts and tax increases are substance.
What I perceive with our government as being a problem, may be different that you're perception, but you can't argue that the Tea Party is a substantial force in just numbers and resolve, calling them Racist or under the control of the corporate world is just a lame attempt by those that are scared it them. They are doing exactly what this country was formed to do. Voice your concerns about the way our government represents us, I'm sorry if you think thats wrong. I'm here to tell you that we need to have a voice or idiots like Barry will just continue to spend in an unchecked manor, he would have signed any debt ceiling bill as long as it gave enough to run the country till after his reelection bid, he didn't care about anything else, or he would have made it public.

What I highlighted there is exactly where we diverge. Yes I think that the tea party has every right... no, an obligation to protest their government for what they see as wrong regardless of which side of the political fence they are on. It strengthens our society, civilized debate strengthens our society.
Yes I agree that the tea party has had a huge impact on the political landscape of the US, are you happy with the outcome? Completely fractured, crippled political system with the minority..................THE MINORITY...........refusing to negotiate with the majority leader in the Senate. Be realistic, the tea party may have had a huge impact on our political system but it has had a HORRIBLE effect on Washington. I thought it could not get worse but it did. I believe there will be a backlash to the tea party's influence which is directly contradictory to what you believe with happen, time will tell.
But I digress...
The tea party has been proven to be about as grassroots as I am thin (I'm not BTW). There have been so many ties to huge corporate interest backing their 'movement' that it is quite obvious that they are being manipulated. It is incredibly easy to control your average American, non-politically savvy citizen and they have been played like a harp. Here is how;
Be afraid, everyone hates us because we are AWESOME (what up!) *how I met your mother*
You pay too much taxes, take your money back it's all YOURS!!
Pay no attention to pollution... its good for you and so hard to understand. No seriously there are graphs and shit
Banks are bad, evil things that rape kitty cats and will steal your bag lunch... but regulation of any kind is far far worse.. no seriously take my word for it
No one should get a penny of money from you, fuck the elderly, sick, poor and disabled. It is Darwinism baby, survival of the fittest
Capitalism is just super duper keen to the max and we hate socialism and anything we disagree with, all of the above... yup, socialism. you dont wanna be a commie do you?
Tea Party member's tend to be or seem to be completely ignorant to what is in their best interest. They hate socialism without even understanding the concept and holding their arthritic knuckles wrapped around their social security checks. Young ones demand deregulation because they mistakenly think that will cure unemployment, they demand that unemployment compensation be cut and that the free market runs health care. They are one pink slip away from absolutely relying on 'socialistic' programs to save their asses. They are so self centered, uneducated and selfish they cannot see past their own pay studs. There is a thing called the common good and they completely ignore it and show their political immaturity by getting the most inane, belligerent no nothings elected and then convince themselves of whatever spin is puked out towards them.
You are right, the tea party has had a dramatic impact on our political system and we, as a society, completely deserve everything we get as a result. I am sorry I have seen the beginning of our decline. We were once a country of lofty ideals with a love of integrity and the respect of the world. The political circus that is the American plutocracy has made us either the target of scorn or a laughing stock worldwide. I wish we could return to our former glory but with ridiculous influences we have now and for the foreseeable future it is not going to happen.
