Hilarious Rant by Bill Gates about how shitty Windows was.

Best read of the morning I'd though I'd share, it's a photo copy of emails so Ic an quote the text, but read this PDF, last 3 pages or so are an email from bill gates to his team ranting how shitty windows and his site are.

wow, that was very interesting and funny to read.

A Windows PC might not be as easy and intuitive as a Mac but they have come a long way since 2003/2004 when he wrote that email.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

I dunno, I still hit situations like that with windows 7 although not quite as bad, but similar none the less... can't recall ever hitting anything like that on my mac, although after my first weekend trying to tame my new Lion install... I'm starting to think they just released beta-ware.

Bill's not a stupid guy, but Microsoft's problem is that they're very manager heavy. My partner interviewed there twice for a job and said he thought they were really top heavy.

The teams also often infight so things don't or won't get done because some manager somewhere killed it on the way up to higher ups because they won't get credit, or it makes them look bad, etc...

I can't remember now which team it was, but they were supposed to switch to .NET for a new version of a popular MS software - the team outright told their superiors they won't do it, the story goes that it wasn't their product or it had been a competing product that won out - so the program had to be written in C# or whatever they were using at the time!

Would Steve Jobs tolerate this shit? Never.

Now with Steven Sinofski in charge things are getting better though, seems like he hands on - Windows 7 was all done under him

microsoft.com has always been the worst website ever. i have a partner account and i spent hours and hours every year just to re-profile cause every year it's different but never works 100%

and their search on their own website is absolutely unusable

Steve Jobs Emails would be an even better read... Mainly because the product he would be bitching about works, looks sophisticated and is intuitive enough for grandma to figure it out... But it still isn't up to par with Jobs...

the few stories I have seen on Jobs on CNBC and there's a good movie "Welcome to macintosh" with ex-employees giving Jobs stories, were pretty much as described, him yelling "This works great, now tear it apart, do it again and make it better, and when you finish, do it again, and bring me the 4th version"
