In the past 12 months I have noticed a huge influx of Americans in my apartment block and my area of Sydney, Australia. When chatting to them, they all say the same thing. Things are getting bad back at home. Jobs/economy/abandoned neighbourhoods/crime.. many have also mentioned their family and friends are following suit, or they followed friends/family here. How many of you American folk are planning on leaving soon? Is the ship really sinking??

You know what happens in asia when you are poor lazy? you die of starvation. If you are just poor, then your family might take pity and care for you.

Lazy and poor men should be banned from breeding, and lazy / poor women should be married off as secondary wives / concubines to men capable of keeping them.
Thats how it has effectively worked for all of human history, and thats how it should continue.
Did you know that for instance throughout history only 40% of all men have reproduced and 80% of women have. there is a reason for it.
I'm tired of paying for lazy fucks breeding and eating my tax dollar. We give them women so they are more placated and cause less crime I'd rather just pay for the police to crack their skulls and keep them in line and have an extra woman, if its all the same.
I'm tired of us invading countries and then giving it back to the people we just took it from. If we are gonna be assholes and invade, we should atleast pillage like the romans did.

There has been a progressive trend lately in the number of Americans you see applying for work in Melbourne. Many are unemployable because they have come here on holiday and do not have the necessary visas, or hope of a visa to stay.
Unless they have a skilled background where we have a local shortage of skilled workers, then it's very hard for them to gain any foothold.Comment

Not slamming the former penal colony here as such but Australia is a net importer of food, oil and many other necessities.
The USA is a net exporter of damned near everything.
What does this mean?
If things go to shit on a wolrd-wide basis, you'll not want to be in a country which relies on imports for its food, security, hardware and even the basic necessites of life. If things get bad in the USA, imagein what they will be like elsewhere!
Yes, the USA has more than one problem but if things go to shit, I'd sure as Hell rather be in the USA than almost anyplace else.

Oh, I understand and no offense meant. I think the poeple who are fleeing the USA are borderline whack jobs because they are just not thinking straight. I have freinds considering going to Panama of all the Gawd-forsaken places and others considering Mexico, both of which are borderline Third World and Mexico is deteriorating rapdily.

If you can get a 457 Visa then excellent outlook as the need for workers is just about exceeding supply at the moment, this will exacerbate in the next 5 years as we need hundreds of thousands of workers in excess of local supply.
Of course the areas with most demand will drive skilled immigration, these will be mining, technology, software development, education service provision and so forth.Comment

A couple of things are going on here that you're not seeing.
(1) Australia imports 80% of its oil. If the ballon goes up, oil prices will rise astronomically and with them the cost of all oil-based goods and services. This would have a devastating effect on the economy of any nation which relies on oil imports.
(2) Australia is facing a huge fresh wataer shortage and although a world leader in sea water desalinization, such plants could presently not keep up if faced with the kind of cirsis mentioned above. Perth's desal plants provide only 20% of the fresh water requirements for that city and it will take years for such plants to provied 100% of the requirements and the situation could well be overtaken by world events long before that goal is reached.
Although both water and oil are essentially commodities, both could be the primary weapons in future international conflicts.Comment

You are spot on about that. Living abroad only exchanges one set of issues/problems for another. However, there is something to be said about living somewhere and being left alone.
I gave up a lot of things (mostly comfort items) when I moved to Thailand, but what I gained outweighs what I lost 10 to 1. It also makes you grow as a person and live outside of your comfort zone, which ultimately builds confidence, continues your life education, and reprograms your brain to be a global thinker, rather than simply an American (or whatever country you're from) who can't see past his own borders.
But I can say with absolute certainty that the grass is NEVER greener, it's just different grass.Comment
