    The ignorance of the majority

...of people on this board...is over whelming. It used to amuse me but I now find it to be more and more depressing.
When you're running down my country hoss...you're walking on the fighting side of me!

NO, I am told that you have failed three times, so you have to go back to Grade School and start all over without passing "Go" and not collecting one thin dime!

My new Android has me addicted to arguing with people whose hobby clearly is neither politics, nor economics, so they know little about either.

That's fine, they have other interests that are probably more fun, they probably know a lot about boating or motorcycles or something. Why the heck am I arguing economics with someone who blames "Regan" though?

Arguing economics here is like arguing CCbill versus Verotel with people at a Baptist convention. Not that most people here don't know anything, they know a lot. They just don't happen to know economics and politics.

In one poll, the majority of Americans didn't know who the vice president was. Darn few could name the chief justice. Again, they know other things that they are more interested in.

So why the heck am I arguing tax policy with people who don't know the difference between positive economics and normative economics?

Actually that brings up a follow up question. Many people reading this post probably fall into the category of "don't care enough about economics to read even one economics book. Actually, don't care enough to know that if I DID read an economics book, it would either be a normative economics book or a positve economics book". If you are one of those people who isn't interested enough to know what the two major branches of economics are, I have a couple questions for you. These are questions I'm asking myself to some extent as I realize I'm not as smart as I think I am:

Are you AWARE that you know little to nothing about economics?

Do you still argue economic policy anyway, knowing that you have no idea what you're talking about?

WHY do you argue about something knowing that you don't know what you're talking about?

Would it be more useful to LEARN from people who do chart the delta of GDP, rather than argue with them?

how versed are you with psychology? if you're not very versed at all, do you not talk to people? or about them?
