Who are you talking about? Jesus certainly existed - so did Mohammad. Buddha did, too. As did Confuscious. Noah might not have, but the tale of Utnapishtim in the Epic of Gilgamesh (the original myth that the story of Noah was likely based on) probably lends something to truth... at least in the sense of a real man that lived.

As far as Beckham goes, worshiping him may be a bit over the top, but he does seem to be doing a bit for soccer - at least in L.A. - as the sport's now making front-page in the sports section, and actually getting coverage on the nightly local News with regularity.

I guess time'll show if it sticks or not.
