I am sure I'll get flamed as being a "racist" for this one, but I am glad about this. Affirmitive action is bullshit, it's reverse discrimination. People should be chosen based on qualifications, not because they are a minority or not.

Yep, everything is done under the premise "its discrimination if we dont do it this way" without people realising its just as descriminating to us.

An associate of mine applied to be a police officer years ago.

For those that don't know, and from what I recall, there's three stages...written, phyical, interview.

The first time this associate took the test, he got to the interview stage and was admittedly weak. He felt that he didn't deserve the job after his interview.

The second time, he was dissapointed because he felt he aced the interview, but nonetheless was resigned to the fact that others may have done better than he did.

The third time he applied he was called back. He was told, "Darren, there's absolutely no reason that I can't offer you a job today. Besides the color of your skin."

            True story.

I lost touch with him and don't know that he ever made it. I'd be surprised if he didn't however as that's all he ever wanted to do.

My feeling on the subject is simple.

When my house is on fire and my kids need saving, I want the BEST qualified people to do the job.

Whether that's 100% black females, 100% asian men, 50% white females and 50% black males OR, yes, god forbid 100% white males. I don't give a shit who it is, as long as the ones that come to save my kids are there because they're qualified to do so and not just a token.

The saddest part of this thread is that the media has gotten you to believe there is such thing as "reverse discrimination". There's no such thing, it's a fictional concept. Discrimination is discrimination, it doesn't matter who's doing it or who it's being done to. "Reverse discrimination" almost sounds less offensive because, hey, you did it to us first. Is it "reverse spousal abuse" if a woman hits her husband with a frying pan? The crime is the same from either side.

This can't be said enough. The term has been invented to legitimize discrimination against whites.

Yes, i agree with you. In either case though, i think everyone is saying the same thing but in a different voice. But this is true in the fact that discrimination cannot be anything more, or less, then it is, regardless of the parties involved...

I used to be a regular on a message board dedicated to college admission and SATs. A black woman with an SAT score of 1450 or more had a great chance of getting into Harvard, even with a so-so GPA. If Harvard turned her down, Princeton or Yale would surely accept her. Meanwhile, there were dozens of white and Asian kids with 1600 SAT scores and 4.0 GPA who were shut out of the three main Ivy League schools. In fact, I'd say that only 30-40% of them got into Harvard. Quite an eye-opener.

The obvious solution, of course, would be complete racial separation. Racial nationalism, so to speak.

welcome to our quota system. if someone ever gave me a job or accepted me into an advanced education program because i am female, i would truly be offended.

moreso then anything, people who end up with that high paying job or end up in college because a quota had to be met should not feel as if they accomplished anything. those people didnt EARN any right to feel that way because they were placed in a position that HAD to be filled.

I've always been very against affirmative action. Jobs should be granted based on quality, not quantity. Oh and by the way, I am considered a "minority".

I remember a few years ago I saw a thing on the news about how women had complained that the physical requirements for becoming a firefighter had to be lowered for women because it wasn't fair that they were being judged on the same standard as men, who were generally stronger. I think they ended up winning and the requirements were lowered.

Kinda makes you worry, why is someone who couldn't make the minimum physical strength requirements being sent to save your kids from a burning building?

                                    crazy old bump! anyway..

Yeah, "reverse discrimination" would have to be defined something like the unreasonable desire to lump everyone together regardless of any obvious differences.

Like "reverse racism" would be a desire to mix all races in all ways, preventing any one race of any kind being alone together, lol.

And "hate crimes" is another stupid made up thing. Please tell me what crimes are not hate crimes? Yeah I killed him, but he was my friend who I liked oh so very much.
