You do realize that the site is not hosted in the USA and the site owner is not in the USA? Americans do not get the luxury of traveling with the same freedoms they have on US soil and are subject to local laws and regulations. The First Amendment does not apply outside the borders of the United States of America.
Posting an AIM database... so what, everyone needs to put their big boy pants on and deal with it. It's a stupid and reckless thing to do, but it's not the end of the world. It was bound to happen sooner or later anyway.
However, now they are posting photos of people's kids and parents, as well as fake HIV results. Totally over the line.
You also realize there are libel laws (globally) for a reason, don't you? Just because you
can say something, doesn't mean it's not going to cost you your ass later. There is speech (which should be protected) and then there is damaging / hateful speech
with the intent to do harm. The two are not the same. I support everyone who wants to say something, good or bad, however, not when your intent is to do harm. A verbal attack is no different than a physical one. There are laws in all countries for both types, and a verbal attack with malicious intent is usually not protected anywhere and will land you in a heap of trouble.
PWL should have just released the AIM data base and left it at that. What is taking place now is madness.
