Two Men Accused Robbing 6 year old boy for 10 dollars
LAKELAND ? Two men have been arrested after Polk Sheriffs? Detectives say they robbed a 6-year-old boy of 10 dollars outside a convenience store on Reynolds Drive.
Deputies say Cameron Solomon told them he was going to the Reynolds Food Mart to get groceries for his grandmother, with the money in his hand, when 20-year-old Julio Ortiz and 17 year old Jarrod Gains came up to him and demanded his money.
When the little boy refused, deputies say Ortiz punched him, then Gains grabbed the cash.
"It is sad. If it really happened... It is sad.,? says Bhaskar Patel, who owns the store.
He says he didn't see the incident, because it happened behind the building.
Those who know the suspects say they would never rob a child.
"If anything... He'll give the little boy 10 dollars, said Alisia Covington, ?He was trying to help the little boy find his money."
Deputies say Ortiz told them it was a big misunderstanding, that he was trying to help the boy find the ten dollars, not take it.
Both suspects face robbery and other charges.
