Florida: 38-year-old Dana Farrell Shelton faces up to a $1,000 fine and 1 year in prison after being charged with misdemeanor misuse of 911. Police told Shelton to move along after being summoned to disturbance at a bar.
Shelton responded by immediately calling 911 and telling a bemused dispatcher that he required assistance as he was "surrounded by Largo police." The officers say he appeared to be drunk.
"Our officers were standing there scratching their heads. He called, standing there in their presence. It's one of our 'truth is stranger than fiction' cases," said Sargeant Melanie Holley from the Largo Police.
