That's even worse. He has the cash and is so cheap that he has to ask a friend for a pass and can't dish out 30$ for something that "he is a fan of", as to, well you know, support the owner of the site.... Really amazing some people's mind works.

As a former program owner (and soon current again ;) ) I'm kind of at the yes AND no response (although I did vote YES)...

Years back I had NO PROBLEM handing out pass after pass for any "webmaster" that asked for one, I also handed out a few free passes to big fans of my niche so they could get a free look inside and help spread the word about my sites on the mainstream boards.

Somewhere around 2004 - 2005 just like everyone seemed to have a webmaster board, everyone also seemed to have a review site, I gave out prolly close to 100 passes to "review sites" and only saw maybe 10 reviews in the end.

These days it seems that most of the "bigger" programs will only hand over a free pass to affiliates who send X sales (to prove they can sell and are not a surfer looking for free porn I gather) and I've also "seen and heard" from a few programs that they will only give out review pass to "established" review sites.

Myself, getting back into the program side, still have no problems handing out the passes BUT I don't think I'll be as loose as I used to be lol, but as long as i KNOW you are an actual webmaster or an actual review site, have a pass.

Last but not least, check this out lol

I've been in this biz since the 90's and I've PAID for all my passes, Twistys, Nubiles and Bree Olson's old site, that's the 3 site's I've paid for and that's what I got access too, I really never bothered to seek out a "free pass" dunno why really, just never did lol

Oh... I should add, MAYBE one reason some owners would shy away from membership for membership is the fear of having their backends "copied" or "ideas lifted"

He's probably not interested in a pass to your site, so it's basically a request for a free pass.
If I received such a request from someone I didn't know well, I would be concerned about the possibility of other motives and would politely decline. If I had a system where I could provide a discount link or cheap trial offer, like a half price offer, I would likely send that.

I can understand that. For a lot of people having that membership on their cc bill isn't something they want to do.
