My dad was raised as one, I know a good bit about it. Cult to the highest degree? I think not, cult? yes.

Not being a religious person I still like to understand and hear out other people on their beliefs, but not at my door.

They are pretty terrible... known for fleecing old people for their money, turning their youngsters into drones, and various other terrible things.. When my grandmother died I had the wonderful experience of finding out that they were going to put her in a home, and had already had her sign power of attorney over to them, not to mention the money they were taking from her bank account every month. It's an ugly organization, just because there are a few good people it definitely doesn't redeem the "Watchtower Society" from being a bunch of brainwashing, scamming pricks.

LadyM, don't worry about me, she's no where near as hardcore about it as her mother is, she doesn't go to church or anything like that so I should be fine lol.

Haha well keep in mind that she would not allowed to be associated with you aside from preaching to you.. you are "worldly" and therefore only suitable for conversion... and if she WAS to associate with you and her parents or the organization found out, she would be "disfellowshipped" or excommunicated and would no longer be allowed to associate with her friends or family.. It's pretty lame.

Got a friend, her parents is hardcore Jehovas, and she "was" also. She did get run over by a car and needed serious sugurey and blood transfusion. She got Banned from the family because she got blood.
The family did 1 visit at the hospital and got a long talk to the doctor and got the facts.. they talked with the "head-priest" at there Jehova headquarter, and after this they gave her 2 options. 1. go to a "recovery camp" and get all thoose sins out because she got blood or the second option was newer se her parents again for the shame they was given form there daughter...

Now after 3 years, she still not see the parents or any of those jehova feaks and is much more happy and normal.
