From one writer to another, a bit of advice that I myself don't actually follow, but you might benefit from it: perhaps setting up a site with some samples of yours will do some good. Generating controversy and intrigue on GFY might be a marketing strategy well-suited to promote job skills other than writing.

Give prospective clients something to look at. A few pieces of work to further entice them and generate some trust in your literary ability. Best of luck, amigo.
