We have always used the ATM because when I use to have to deposit international checks and checks of larger amount if I went inside they would hold it seven days. If I did it through the ATM it was instant. I remember asking them why, seemed like it was backwards to me. The ATM doesn't know if you are actually putting in those checks, the teller does.
