I've had at least 7 HP computers, both desktops and laptops now. Each and every one has had problems.
I had to send one of my laptops back to get the power plug fixed - where you plug the power cord into. They told me they needed to replace the whole motherboard, which may or may not have been a lie but stupid design on their part but what got me was while they had my laptop, they replaced the battery and hard drive with
refurbs. I lost everythingggg. No reason to touch them and they couldn't give a shit what their 'techs' did with it.
So with a <1 year old laptop, I had a refurb battery that lasted <30 minutes, and a refurb hard drive with none of my pictures, work docs and programs, or anything on there.
My three dell laptops have had some issues but nothing close to HP, so I'll probably stick with them for awhile.
