I searched online and he's been arrested twice. Once was back in 1994 for Grand Theft and the other is from this year for failure to pay child support. He's unemployed and obviously can't get a job that pays him commensurate with his skills because of his felony record. I'm no way excusing that he shouldn't have taken care of his kids, but with a record, they make it hard.
I called him back to let him know I found his records but still wanted him to come in for an interview. Would you hire him if he met all your requirements but still had the record?

Depends on his age if he were 16-20 on his 1994 arrest then he was just a stupid young guy. Failure to make child support well if he don't have the money then he can not pay and looking for work on Craigslist shows he did not have the money to pay!
Give him a chance.
