Considaring L3 and global crossing are now 1 tier1 network.

Mzima + Packetexcahnge + WBS + GT-T = One tier2 network

Bandcon + highwinds = Tier2 network

WVfiber + host.net = tier2 network

Century link + qwest + savvis = now tier1 network

You can see 5 tier1 networks now consolidated to 2 tier 1 networks and 8 tier2 networks now became 3 tier2 networks.

Bandwidth pricing is going to start going UP due to less market competition. Global crossing was Level3's biggest competitor because global crossing was doing stupid cheap bandwidth deals. Now with that tier1 competitor gone L3 can now control more of the market share and drive up prices.

Rumor has it Cogent is trying to find a buyer... Above.net is trying to find a new buyer as well. So there is more network consolidation.
