Most in adult who are transitioning to mainstream bring in the wrong marketing methods and mindset. The adult business has condition them to consistently market to a visual compulsion rather then a true interest/necessity. Because that's the bulk of all mainstream - an interest or a necessity. Anyway, somewhat back to "adapting". The ones I've seen in adult who've transitioned well are for damn sure not the SEO's, visual content producers, or the slick designers. Although, they are important, the ones I've seen make the transition well are the ones who use to write the truly organic sex stories. Remember them? - why?- because they naturally generate interest and then necessity.

That's interesting because one of the things I always say is:
Porn is filled with people who couldn't get a job doing anything else.
For many this is the "last chance saloon". LOL Even for me, I am not "above" anyone here! I was so down-and-out I couldn't see the gutter, let alone climb out of it. I needed a business I could start with nothing, zero, because that's what I had: zero.
But I do remember my life in the "mainstream world" and you are 100% correct: if something is "interesting" or fills a need then the visuals almost get in the way. It's a completely differant mindset.
What's interesting to me, tho, is when I employ some "mainstream" marketing techniques to Mister Peabody World then my sales almost always go up. Maybe I'm unconsciously tapping into a porn surfer's "mainstream mind" and he responds? I dunno, but I know "mainstream" staples like email marketing (as just one example) works incredibly well in adult.
