The lands they did occupy during that war (West Bank, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights) are what plague them to this day as it is. Imagine the level of violence we'd be seeing if they had been trying to hold "Cairo, Damascus and Amman".
It was not defensive. The Egyptians moved their army into the Sinai desert and cut of Israeli shipping lines. This does not mean they were about to invade Israel. I'm not saying they didn't have a right to feel threatened, but the IDF launched a first strike attack. Even Kissinger agrees with me on this one. Nasser was incompetent and got caught with his pants down, lost his entire air force in a couple hours, and the war was over. lol, and here we are 40 years later, only 200 years away from peace.Palin/Bigotry '12Comment

It wasn't just the supply line being caught off...all 4 of those countries mobilized their troops on the Israeli borders and their sole purpose was to invade Israel. The fact that the IDF stuck Egypt first was irrelevant at that point...they had no choice, as they couldn't stay mobilized forever.Comment

I don't think Lebanon was so much about the casualties as it was the fact that Israel had to walk on eggshells during this most recent conflict in Lebanon due to Hezbollah being so entrenched in civilian villages and using them as a human blockade/shield. Israel could've easily leveled most of Lebanon had it chosen to not be sensitive to civilian casualties...Comment

that's why I say the strongest army in the world is that of an Islamic terror group. the fact that I can not associate it with a country (as in "the army of Afghanistan or Iran or whatever") tells you more about how undefeatable it is.
they draft from terror sites on the internet, they use democracy and freedom of speech of other countries to state their point of view, they will hit all YOUR soft spots with no mercy.
the only way to stop them is to kill the poverty from which they strive from, turn their countries to regions that fight ingrowing terror.
