Yeah, that's true, it is different hockey here, for example:
My kid started playing full contact in pee wee... and when they played tournaments with Canadian teams those teams were not yet checking - plus the Canadian kids were required to wear neck guards.
Nothing wrong with any of that...
But it does suggest that the US programs are, well, just a wee bit... ummm... tougher.
Chara did have a tough time with St. Louis because that little guy is tough and fast... but he didn't have to resort to head hits regardless of size difference.

The six Canadian teams make 1/3 of the NHLs money...do some research. Also, Vancouver is not a small city and the ratings this year are far better than last when there were two large US markets.
By the way I want the cup in Canada this summer so I'm cheering for Boston considering they have more canadian playersComment

How exactly is that an example? He didn't hit him in the head. He hit him into the boards and it could've be called boarding but it was just an unfortunate circumstance where it happened regardless. If the hit had been on the glass, Pac would have just needed to sit in the ice tub afterwards a bit longer. All the commentary in that clip speaks exactly to that fact. "Chara is not a dirty player" "He didn't look like he intended for that too happen" "doesn't know his own strength" blah, blah, blah.
I am no Chara fan. I do think he gets away with a ton of dirty crap. Beside the big slapshot and the gargantuan reach the guy barely looks like like he can skate imo.
I've said before, this is a mutant vs mutant situation... Two players that play as one in the Sedins and one player the size of two in Chara. Whichever comes out the winner gets to join the X-men...

Last I checked, Rome isn't 6'9"
And you're right, we don't play the same. I play the kind that requires ice, skates, a stick and a puck. You require the type that requires grass, huge nets, and a ball. Where I come from, it's never encouraged to bite, pull hair or dive.Comment

The difference is one person almost got his head taken off, and the other almost got pushed through the glass.
I do agree the Ference hit should have been a penalty, but it simply isn't as bad as clearly targeted hit to the head of another player. There is no way that can be justified to me.Comment

why dont you check their stats. Both players are about the same hight and there's reason why he got hit n the head... because his head was down and he was crunched. Please don;t tell me thats how you play hockey. I can see hot 50+ year old fat guys on joes I-league play that way but not real players. You're taught to take out guys like that when you play D. I'm not sure why but Vancouver seems to have an inordinate amount of dummies who like to bang on the glass every time the play comes within 5 feet of where they are sitting. I know this happens in a lot of other cities too, but Canucks fans at ice level seem to do it a lot. It's annoying.
All those people yelling "LOUUUUU" every time Luongo touches the puck, well, gotta roll my eyes on that. It was mildly amusing a few years ago, for a while, but now it's just gotten kind of... old.

And tonight was a good example of pretty clean hits coming from Vancouver, except for the one on Marchand which he pretty much deserved for doing the same to Sedin. I seen a few times Canucks players hit Bruins at the line but didn't need to lunge their shoulders into heads to do it.
What's sad about this series though is that piece of shit biting, hair pulling, diving baby Burrows is probably going to have his name etched on the cup for life. I can tolerate Thelma and Louise Sedin, and Loungo rocked in Vancouver, but Burrows does not deserve a victory.Comment

That happens in every city, including Vancouver. The difference is Boston fans have thicker skin and don't run to the media crying because someone taunted them when they walk through an opposing building decked out in Bruins gear. What do people really expect to happen during a heated playoff series? I don't condone it, I certainly wouldn't harass anyway in a Vancouver jersey, but I also wouldn't cry if I went to their stadium in full Bruins gear and someone yelled shit at me.
Boston is definitely not for thin skinned people though, that much is certain. It takes a certain breed to live in the major areas between PHI through BOS.Comment
