Is bitcoin a con?

I read people buying bitcoin in the belife these coins could be worth over 1 thousand usa dolloarts per coin.

Is there a security risk? For a start could somone create false coins and put them into there account?

If bitcoin takes off will it be a great way for criminals to make money, such as selling drugs as there is no cash.
