yep and most southern states in some areas are soaking it up at the lines.. i drove by one welfare office one day and it seemed to be a local hangout for bums and what not.

You cant compare it was 1964,the doctor lived on the corner in the nicest house, his wife was his nurse. He did alittle better than everyone else but wasnt a rich man.Being a doctor was his calling like being a priest,he made house calls and it was very affordable. My mom was 17 going on 18 and my Dad was 20.

What do you consider "a bit extra"

In Britain, about eight to 10 percent of taxpayers' income goes toward the national insurance policy, including health services. Britain was ranked 18th in the 2000 World Health Organization report.

In the number 1 ranked country, France, up to 20 percent of taxpayers' salaries goes into socialized health care.

U.S. was ranked 37th out of 190 countries.

          Sweden 23rd.

That does not explain to me why it is okay for chicks to go out and get knocked up when they can't afford to provide for their children.

funny how it keeps happening to the same people over and over again.

"shit happens" is a bullshit excuse when it comes to having kids, and you know it.

How many kids do you have?

                          Its called Welfare...

Most the Black mothers here in the US use it..

Tax payers pay for it. They use it to live on.

Not only does it pay for medical, it pays for food and even gives cash...

People are so full of shit when they talk about the uninsured..

The poorest of poor and the majority of blacks are on the US form of socialized medcine.

                          ITs called Medicaid.. Welfare.

The film sicko wasn't so much about socialized medicine as it was about the HMO's. Even if you do have insurance you might get fucked if your sick. Medical bills are overwhelmingly the cause of bankruptcy for middle class families in the US. Those are people that generally have insurance.

You pay taxes that end up getting distributed to poor people in a messed up system and you pay for private care and don't get what you paid for in the end. That basically means the American people are getting fucked.

You should get proper care either provided by the government or by the people you pay your insurance fees to. Now your double paying and getting sweet fuck all

Best healthcare in the world? USA hasnt been the #1 country when it comes to healthcare for YEARS. You are talking about something you have no clue about. Like most americans on this board, you need to travel abroad and see the reality.

                              The biggest problem when it comes to american healthcaresystem is;

                              1. Companies who offer insurences do it for the money (ofcourse) so they do whatever they can to deny their customers medicalcare, they dont give a fuck about you, they are a company and need to think about the profit.

                              2. Healthinsurence companies will tell you to go and fuck yourself if you are a high risk customer (for example fat or have any other problems).

Many of you (with time) will have to see a doctor and even stay at a hospital for a long time when you get older. Then you will understand.

I think its better to pay a bit extra vat and let everyone have free healthcare. In the end i might not be earning on it, but its a good and safe system, probably someone in my family will have problems and then they have something to lean back too.
                              a) I think you mean "health insurance", not "Healthinsurence". That's two words, with one E.
Please refer back to my post ie go to school, read a book.

                              b) You started your post by saying that the US doesn't have the best medical care for those
who have someone to pay for it then tried to support that by telling me what's wrong with
"Healthinsurence". Those are two totally different things. I never said their was anything
good about the insurance system. (although I'm about to say one good thing about it.)

                              c) I don't need to do any more travelling abroad to see the medical systems elsewhere to
know what I said is true. That's because as I said the Canadians, Europeans, and others
are coming HERE when it gets serious and they want top notch care.
At every convention I meet someone who is either getting health care while they are
here in the US or will tell me about a time that they did. Typically they say "I might have
been able to get this operation done at home, they say, if I wait 18 months. But I'll
probably go blind while waiting. In the US I can get it done by the doctor who invented
the procedure and have it done within two weeks of calling.

The insurance system in the US needs work, no doubt about it. That's a seperate question
from the quality of care. In fact, I think that one of the biggest problems causing the high
cost of the extremely high quality of care and extent of care expected. My nephew sprained
his wrist and they wanted to do over $4,000 worth of various scans and shit.
When I dropped my motorcycle at at about 25 MPH the ambulance came and wanted
$2,000 to take me to the hospital. Had I gotten the different scans and tests done at the
emergency room that the doctors would have ordered that 25 MPH crash would have cost
an insurance company over $10,000. When a sprained wrist costs the insurance
company $4,000 you can start to see why insurance is so high. We have people
in the emergency room getting a $2,000 CAT scan becuse they have a headache,
one that the regular doctor could diagnose as sinus infection the next day and cure for
                              under $150.

When I crashed the bike the first decision I made was to let my friend drive me to the
hospital, which saved $2,000 over the ambulance that I really didn't need.
I then decided I didn't have any injuries that were likely to get that much worse by
monring, so I just called my doctor first thing in the morning rather than going to
the emergency room. I got my bandages and stuff at Wal-Mart and the total for
my medical care for that wreck was about $300. I probably saved cose to $10,000
by being responsible about my own care and not wasting money.

For those of you really looking for affordable health care in the US today, the best thing
we have right now may be a high deductible insurance policy with an HSA, or health savings
account. Check into the HSA plans from Blue Cross. For about $130 / month I can get
a plan that covers most everything above my $3,000 / year deductible. The $3,000 / year
deductible is paid with PRE-TAX dollars out of my health savings account, if in fact I need
$3,000 worth of health care one year. This costs a lot less than a plan with a low deductible precisely because it gives me some control over what my health care costs.
With that deductible I won't choose to get thousands of dollars worth of tests for a sprained
wrist. I won't waste $2,000 on an ambulance ride when my friend can take me, and I won't
do what my girlfriend did the other day and get $45 Claritin from the pharmacy when the
exact same Claritin is available on the shelf at Wal-Mart for $6. So my total health care
cost for a year will probably be $130 / month plus maybe $300 in the year for doctor
visits and OTC medication. If I get real sick or something the most it can cost me is $3,000 plus the $150/month premium, a total of $380 / month in the very worst case,
which isn't much more than I'd pay for policy with no deductible.

Of course if you DO get really sick, you must remember that insurance companies pay big bonuses and have quotas for their people to deny coverage on any and every technicality that they possibly can. Better go have a lawyer review your policy.

You're in good hands.. they're on your side.. etc etc bullcrap

In GA, they can't cancel you for getting sicker or raise your rates outside an overall approved rate increase unless you've lied on your application.

As I've said a few times, state laws, state health insurance for kids (here the parents can make up to $42K a year and the kids can get very cheap coverage), high risk pools, state grants, etc. are taking care of a lot of stuff many of you want the feds to take over.

I know every travel show regarding insurance I've ever watched has said if you get ONE KIND OF TRAVEL INSURANCE, get the kind that will fly you back to your preferred medical facility in the US if you're abroad. I have it. When professional travelers say "get back to the US for medical care" I have to believe they might know what they're talking about.

and yet, they still let people die on the floor because they refuse to take this 'socialized' coverage you speak of.

Yes, there are some idiots working in hospitals in the US - just like there are idiots working everywhere. It's like blaming the VT shootings on lack of gun laws - the laws are there already - they are being broken. People letting someone die on the floor of an ER is breaking the law. Having socialized medicine wouldn't have prevented that.

So, if I go have 15 kids, and can't afford them... I can get free health care, free food and cheap housing? NICE!
