WP gurus, any ideas? This is making me crazy.....

    WP gurus, any ideas? This is making me crazy.....

    I am using a modified WP theme.

    Even though there is no "the_date" or "the_time" call on any of the main template pages (index, header, etc), somehow G is picking up a date and adding it to my description in the SERPs. It's not even the date of the most recent post. It's a date in April that doesn't change in the SERPs, even though my site has been reindexed several times since then (the last G site cache is from May 31).

    Anyone have any suggestions on where it's coming from and how to get it out of there? Seeing the date in G is making me crazy, especially since as time rolls on, I don't want it to say April 23, 2011 forever.....

          I did check it (I use Platinum SEO) and couldn't see where it would be the culprit, though.

              you MUST have the date somewhere, I never heard of Google picking the date if it doesn't exist. Maybe you have it in single pages or archives template? Anyway, no need to take it off, just try to find the call to the_date() and replace it with this:

              <script type="text/javascript">document.write('<?php the_date() ?>');</script>
              an voilá!

                          Actually, it was the script that ran the review part of the template - it was putting a hidden date into the pages.

                          And no surprise - the amazing Harvey was able to find it.
