SPONSORS: do you trust your own program?

Why do you use affiliates? Don't you trust your own program to do good if you were to buy traffic?

Lol, that's a good question. I guess most sponsors would say - they don't have time to deal with getting traffic and tracking traffic and watching to make sure the traffic they pay for performs, yadda yadda. So for sponsors it could be more convenient to pay their affiliates per performance (per sign ups they deliver) and let affiiates figure out where to get traffic from. This way sponsors can focus entirely on making sure they have good sites, instead of focusing on promotion. But what do I know :S

That's the lazy answer. With the amount of $$$ they pay some affiliates, they could hire one or two new people to monitor the traffic sources for productivity.

Similarly - any sponsor could ask. Why do you sell traffic? If you trust traffic you sell so much, why don't you use it yourself. It should be more profitable for you at the end of the day if you used it, instead of selling it.

If you say any traffic buyer who would purchase traffic from you would benefit from it and see return on investment, than if you know you have such traffic, why don't you use it monetize on it yourself, instead of selling it? Do YOU trust your traffic? But then again... what do I know...

LOL.... looks like we could have an rotating question on who trusts what.

My traffic is actually NOT my traffic. It's traded/bought traffic and comes from hundreds of sources. If I were to stop trading, I wouldn't have any traffic to send to anyone. I also pay certain people for the traffic they send. If I don't pay them, I have no traffic to send to sponsors. If clients don't pay traffic from me, then I have no money to buy traffic. So in my case, it's not that I don't trust my traffic... without my trades and traffic clients... I have nothing.

I also use left over traffic to promote certain programs, sponsors I've build relationships with over the years. So to say I don't is wrong.

But let me ask you this then... let's say there is a new site that comes out by a new sponsor, or even an old sponsor. Are you saying that I should break a relationship with a company I've worked years with, have made hundreds of thousands, just to try out all the new sites that come out almost every day?! I still haven't been paid by Flesh Light Cash for trying their program out.

But then again, I've been selling traffic since '98... what do I know.

Good affiliates are hungry for success, while in-house employees might be counting the minutes to the end of their shift. So, in order to keep the employees motivated, you have to give them a commission bonus of what they monetize, but then we're starting to circle back around to the affiliate system. And for affiliates, we don't have to pay them an hourly wage regardless of their performance, pay Federal and state taxes, social security, insurance, and manage them and their work schedule let alone deal with nasty human resource issues if they become unstable and show up drunk and stab an actress they fell in love with because they stare at her getting banged all day.

So there's the math. To have someone in-house buying and monetizing traffic, we need to look at a 10%+ sales commission, hourly wage, the taxes and social security, the extra management and book keeping, the baby sitting, the paid vacation, and on top of it all--paid traffic. This costs us per member about the same as one sent from an affiliate, but with fewer headaches.

Also, if you've ever tried to hire qualified, creative, self-starting people to work for a porn company, you know it's a nightmare. Most employment candidates think working for an adult company will be a red mark against them for the rest of their lives. And if you did get a whip smart kid or two to run all your traffic buys and campaigns, they figure out pretty quick that they could do this on their own and make 10 times more, and they quit.

But really, without affiliates there would be no shows, and that would cut into my drinking.

Why turn down any legit traffic source? Even with a fully staffed office, it would be impossible to tap every traffic source. So, why miss out on any traffic that we don't have to miss out on?

Not every webmaster will use a particular program... so it's impossible to tap every traffic source either way.

HAHA creative sales pitch. Well if your confident with the traffic you sell you should join us and do a test of profitability ;) Working with affiliates is great, no matter the size of the company we cannot think of the unique ideas, presentation, setup or whatnot that will convert us best. A sales force of thousands all with unique ideas and marketing concepts is a powerhouse of sales, profit, and traffic. Affiliates work with us, they (theoretically) know there traffic and how to convert it so we can expect great returns and mutual profits. Buying traffic is one way out and not necessarily an incoming as there are plenty of traffic sources, each with there own conversions and trials/etc.

                    Shall I continue? lol
