I'm getting my first and only tatoo tomorrow! What do you think?

Wonderful design. I wouldn't be nervous. It only really hurts at the beginning. Afterwards, you'll find the pain to become more and more tolerable as you start to pump out endorphins. Fair warning: the worst part of getting a tattoo, in my opinion, is when they have to color it in. They run the needle over the area over and over again to make sure there's an even spread of color. It's certainly bearable, so don't psych yourself out! Good luck

pop a percocet or something similar to take the edge off 30 min before you start - youll be fine.

dont drink alcohol whatever you do, like they said, youll bleed like crazy and itll ruin the tattoo.

I just got a big one about 11 days ago. I think the skin on it is finaly finished peeling and now it looks like it should, instead of looking like a brand new tattoo.

It doesnt really hurt at all, its more annoying than painful. Was kinda sore for a couple of days afterwards, but nothing to cry about.

Just think of some of the people that already have tats.. surely you are more of a man than they are? Especially the women? If they can do it, so can you. At least that was my thinking when I went in and it worked just great

I just got my 3rd tattoo on the 4th, a tree that goes up my left forearm from the wrist to the elbow and it hurt like a bitch. Anyone who says that getting a tattoo doesn't hurt is full of shit. Perocet won't help, I took 2 vicodin during mine and it didn't even take the edge off. IN my opinion it hurts worse when they do the outline, coloring in was a bit less painful, but they do have to go over the bleeding area over and over again.

But the pain is well worth it.

Yup , i tried some Vics also and didnt do anything , once the work starts you will get used to the needle and such certain parts of body are more "painful" but after awhile the whole area becomes numb and the pain becomes a second nature type feeling

make sure you eat alot the night before and have a good breakfast

goodstuff i had some tats done doesnt hurt that bad with tat gun - and i had a small tat done by khmer monks in S.E Asia now that shit stings.

so no worries buddy - but tell you the truth thats a generic design but enjoy.

Depends where on your body your getting it, some places more sensitive then others, but be sure it'll hurt like hell.
Take as many pain killers as you can to the point of nearly passing out unconcious.
First they do the outline which uses a different needle than the colour cos it has to go more deep to retain the outline, normally a good artist will go over the outline atleast 3 times, after the first run you'll probably be wishing you had changed your mind.
Then comes the colour, the worst colours are red and white. More than likely he will do the white first as there wont be as much blood to ruin the pigments in the ink and turn it pink, but by the time he does the red you'll be bleeding like fuck, he wont be able to see properly if the red ink has gone deep enough to retain its colour so he'll need to keep going over it time and time again.
Some people like to stop haly way and have a break, this is unadvisable as most decide to end the session and never go back to finish, thus having to live the rest of their life with a half done tattoo.

the first few minutes is the worst after that you get kinda numb to the pain. My least painful was my shoulder and my upper arm. I think most of the pain of getting tattood is the anticipation.

I just got my second a week ago. As far as being scared about the pain... depends on where you get the tattoo. If it's on your arm it's nothing. If it's on your ribs, be ready for some pain.

If it's one thing I've learned lately, it's that there is uninformed to my personal feelings, there's evil assholes who like to kick those who are down, and there's people who care so much they don't know what to say.

I thought your comment was thought provoking and I shared it with my 9 year old girl as well and we both blurted out the same type of comments.

It's not that anything will bring him back. It's almost sick to say but finding his body, doing the viewing, interviewing with media, and having an entire community of kids and parents sharing their personal stories and concerns verifies to me that he's not coming back. I know this is way different than if someone got a phone call that someone died in a plane crash etc. Your mind will play tricks on you and convince you that they might be wandering around with amnesia or something. The denial portion of grief has been the easiest.

I asked myself alot of questions before deciding to do this. What will I feel when I'm 65? I'll be wearing it with pride and I'll never forget whether I wear sleeves or not.

Taylor actually begged me to get a tattoo that said "mom" in a heart on his upper arm and I told him if he brought me C's and above, I'd "think about it" when he was 16 and at the end of the year. It's kind of a tribute to that but also....

I wanna rememeber in the future all the other things I'm learning and experiencing right now. I've been through alot of loss, confusion and hurt over the years. Me and him against the world most of the time. I have come to a very healthy, wise, in control, stubborn and proud point in my life in the past year and a half maybe two years.

I believe that it was to prepare for this. This was a whammy and a big one. There are emotions and wisdoms that don't have english language words that I've been experiencing for weeks now. I am fighting with my life to stay off anti depressants and try to keep as healthy as I can and as optimistic and level headed as possible. I will never forget this period of time, 34 years old, in my life.

I have always thought that a tatoo would only be appropriate for me if it represented what I've learned and grown from because of the two incredible great kids I have created. My only regret is that I didn't do it so he could see it.

This is why I've decided that not only am I going to do this one, but I may get one for my girl right below it. The loving heart with the wings and halo above a tattoo (later) will represent the importance and realisticness of him being there watching over her. I think it will be great.

i personally hate tattoos, but out of any tattoo you can get i guarantee this is the one you will never regret. i say go for it.

Which Slave to the Needle and who's doing it? I wished I'd known you wanted one. There's some wonderful guys down near me that do great custom work. Slave is good if it's Aaron or John. I have a blue/yellow poison dart frog climbing over my right shoulder that John did about 5 years ago. He also did a wolf face thru a pawprint tat for my oldest son. I've got two stars behind my right ear that Ericka did a few years back also. Haven't used them since I found this guy at Seven Deuce local to me.

I've always thought that the only logical reason a person would get a tattoo with their own name is so that they won't forget it, in case they ever get amnesia.

I've got my name, my next of kin and my blood type tattoed on my ass, chest, legs, arms and forehead.

Worked in war zones for 23 years so just incase I got blown up, they'd hopefully find a piece of me with some ID to notify my family.
