My only qualm with "Thrones" is at times I do feel like I better read the books to figure out what is going on because the dialog involves discussions of things that are presented as almost random asides about deep histories of things that haven't been established in any way, (kind of like that crazy voice over narration recounting 25% of the plot in the space of a minute or so in the movie version of "Dune")the back stories are rich and hard to keep up with as a result, like names of people or events that obviously will have great bearing on future actions, so I find myself asking someone that has read the books tons of questions. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing because it does seem to unfold more and more of those plot details through on screen action.
