What are the click-to-buy ratios like? Average sales per mails sent? Obviously a newsletter to members area people is going to have better numbers than something anyone can sign up for.
Anyone want to share stats on opt-in mailing?

This adult related?
If so... you need to use a non-adult domain. You need to use a non-adult IP. You CANNOT include adult words in the Email. You cannot include pics.
If you do it will be something like:
1,000 Emails out. 56 get opened. 106 links are followed. nobody buys...
If it is done right you might make it into 200 to 400 in boxes and have perhaps a sale a day if lucky.Comment

If you are actually mailing and converting less than 1:400 on an opt in list, email me. You need some help with your creatives. This adult related?

To answer the OP, Good = 28% open, of which 56% click, of which 25% buyComment

Truly too many factors.... if it's an ex member list, without question you can convert them at astounding ratios and be much more aggressive in your marketing, but it takes powerful emails to produce powerful results.

For a good opt in list, yes.
You build up trust with a good list.
They sign up, and every week you send them a newsletter with what you said you would send them. 20 pics. A vid. Whatever.
Don't spam them. Don't send them anything else. Ever.
After a couple of years, you build up an amazingly responsive list.
One year, I got 100% open rate on a email. On Xmas day. Honest to god I did.Comment

i made a cool little script/program to create opt-in geo email list.
basically you offer a free dvd video to surfers , they enter email and get password to a protected directory containing the video. you get a geo optimized email list. putting the surfers city in future emails passes spam filters and gets big attention.hatisblack at yahoo.comComment

Well said!
Between the data and the mechanics, soooo many variables. And once you learn what your recipients respond to, you need to create the right killer ad copy for each list, segment, site, landing page, etc. No one stat can be the norm for everyone.

I know you have the whole 'pretending to be a girl' thing going on but let's work through your post.
The definition of spam I "hold dear" is the one in the dictionary. Quite simple, right? Unsolicited commercial email.
Even though you are as mental as a hatstand, even you can agree that, right?
OK, let's move on to explain how double opt in works. Can you spare the time from pretending to be a woman to cope? Cool.
There's an email box on a page. It says CLICK HERE TO GET FREE PICS EVERY WEEK. You click, you enter an email address. That is your first opt in. You then get sent an email to that email address saying SOMEONE USING THIS ADDRESS ASKED TO GET FREE PORN. IF YOU WANT FREE PORN CLICK HERE TO CONFIRM.
Then, guess what Salster, then it is SOLICITED. Not UNSOLICITED.
There. That was quite simple, wasn't it?
Thanks for playing, pick up your consolation prize at the door.

Damian, go back and read the thread! "Internet User" is the one who wrote that opt-in email is "still spam", not me! I KNOW what opt-in and double-opt-in are and use them both. I was not responding to you but rather "Internet User".I know you have the whole 'pretending to be a girl' thing going on but let's work through your post.
