would you buy Jewelry from a Russian store on the Internet ?

I'm thinking about how russian are sometimes generalized as cheaters on the internet (which is not true by the way).
I'm building a website store for a russian dude and starting to think I should hide (ok, not show in "contact page") the address of the store to make it more profitable.
yes, they will know after they pay and get the package from Moscow but that should'nt matter to them at that point.

I wouldn't buy jewelry over the net regardless of where the distribution centre was based.

But as for your question then yes it probably is a good idea not to advertise the fact that the goods will be comming from Russia.

Russia is given a bad reputation because many russians did a lot of bad things on the internet, but I know a few russian guys who are more reputable and honest than most of the people I've met in this industry.

Well there are a few reasons but mainly it is the old question of "accurate representation". What can appear, ( or be made to look ), good quality in a photograph can often be very different in "real life"

Because there are no universal standards of workmanship and quality in jewelry it is an area that is very much open to interpretation. What could be considered "top qualty" in one country may only be classed as "second rate", ( or worse ), in another

As far as I know the only online retailers who have had any success in this area of e-commerce are the ones that are already well known and have a "bricks and mortar" presence as well.

It's not just about the size, if I buy something really expensive, I want to see it, touch it and make sure it's well-crafted. It's small details I pay attention to, and that's something barely possible via pictures only.

I would only buy jewellery from known company's online shop.. never from somewhere I just happened to find on-line.. My last purchase was from hsamuel.co.uk because they are a well known and trust worthy company with locations in my area..

No way in hell would I trust some unknown company.. Not just russian (I have nothing against Russian business, infact I do lots of business with Russian webmasters).. It would just seem to 'dodgy'.

They could setup a company in the UK (for order handling or something like that), UK address etc. would help... USA would also be an option, but UK would be easier to set-up..

If the dude is a well known dealer, with specialist customers, it might be a little different, as the client would understand that it is a Russian product, and would be happy to deal with the source.. If it's some unheard of guy, then a Russian or any other country in that region will not help I am sure.

Is that the same as buying camera/computer/electronics off ebay?
