Security log in questions are total bullshit!

If Obama had one of these accounts we could all hack it in 5 minutes.

    ? mom's maiden name
    ? high school
    ? occupation
? born where (ok, Tea baggers will fail)

    WTF?

If they let you make up your own questions smart people wouldn't choose any of the
    questions that they offer.

I think this stuff, which is supposed to make it harder for someone to hack your
account, actually makes it easy as hell for anyone who knows you to simply
guess their way into your account.

The questions are also so personal that I think they are only using this to
gather information about you that will be used for marketing and/or cross referencing
you with other information on the internet.

I'm starting to wonder if those questions are actually an invasion of privacy.

You don't have to use your genuine info (well, as long as you can remember your bogus details).

Sure, but how many people just blindly type that stuff in?
I bet every one who falls for the email scams sure do.

A good strong pass word is the best security, adding "back doors" with this
information is only circumventing the password security.

People choose different passwords for different sites, but their mom's maiden name
is always the same on every site. So now once they get hacked with this information
the hacker just goes to any site they can think of and tries the same answers and
succeeds at getting all the different passwords.

With more and more sites tying themselves to a Facebook login it won't be long before you don't need to guess their pass more than once anyway.

No shit. I joined facebook and quit right away.

The facebook "like buttons" on sites allows facebook to build a very complete
history of your surfing. People think they need to click it, but they don't.
The like button is pulled from javascript on facebook so they immediately
have the information as soon as the web site loads.

Yes, the security questions are similar across most sites making them lame ... "false security" at its best.
