1370 waivers from new healthcare law

"Fathom the odd hypocrisy that Obama wants every citizen to prove they are insured, but people don't have to prove they are citizens." -Ben Stein

    http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011...-health-care-/

    Harry Reid's state
The Health and Human Services Department announced late Friday that Nevada had secured a statewide waiver from certain implementation requirements of the Obama administration?s health care law, because forcing them through, the department found, ?may lead to the destabilization of the individual market.?

Harry Reid wrote the thing, still think this is a good thing?

I thought this was going to cover everyone?

More than 3 million people are enrolled in plans affected by these waivers.

    Yeah, I find this funny
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
    think about that

        Yeah, I find this funny
It is my understanding that these waivers are temporary only until the full law goes into effect in 2014...to allow for adjustments to be made...instead of forcing sudden changes that can cause certain problems.

That's what I don't understand, if the new law is not in effect, then why do they need the waiver? Then when the law goes into effect, they won't have it?

If thats the case, Then why do they need it?

I want to know all the details of this health care and waivers, but then again I am afraid if I spend time reading it, I will either just be more confused or pissed off, while wasting that time to read it.

So, I will stick to reading Left and Right views of it and drawing my on conclusion in the middle.

doesnt it make you wonder why the health insurance providers went silent right after the bill was passed...

think that was probably the original plan with the naysayers, but once people figure out it is just a matter of voting to get a PO reintroduced, passing the bill as it is now is the best option for the future

hey at least no one has said how great the healthcare law is so far

Not holding my breath on the GOP coming up with a viable candidate for 2012, but if they Manage to do so, then the GOP will rip up the healthcare law for something that hopefully makes more sence. Anything that 3 million people opt of can't be good

Because of the movement they would need to get them office would expect it, if they didn't, they would lose the office in 2016.

                                          kinda like the spending issue?
the GOP is already taking heat for not doing anything they promised, or should I say not doing enough, 2012 elections will be interesting as many of the democrat senators will up for re election that weren't last nov
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
                                          think about that

you know this is the same tactic the us, and Europe, uses on developing countries?

And I find it so interesting that the Big Labor organizations, that spent so many millions pushing this bill, somehow ended up with so many of the waivers from a bill that they fought to pass... These waivers don't exclude anyone from the healthcare plan. The waivers buy crap ins companies more time to get the house in order before the hammer comes down for good.

Overall i would say Reid sounds like a smart fellow. Rather than write into the bill every States & Corps micro differences covering every law they have, which would make the bill even larger & impossible, he set in a wavier policy for the few out of the many that need it. Sounds like a forward thinker to me.

You mean, corporations got waivers, for the union members that already have insurance. Because the insurance is NOT provided by the corp and it's not personal - it's through the union, so logically the corp/union and people need a waiver or someone is double paying for insurance.

Correct... obviously nothing is wrong unless you want to twist some fake reality out of it to make it wrong.

They are getting waivers so they can begin the transition of changing millions of peoples policies, exactly what Obama said would not happen. But millions of people will be forced off their plans by their employers and made to take more expensive plans that most people do not need.

The whole bill caters to the big insurance and big pharm. They will be raking it in while the middle class will be forced to buy a product they do not need and/or want.

The waivers have nothing to do with peoples policies.

What you're going to see is millions of people dumping over priced, normally total crap corp provided insurance for a much larger, much more stable, insurance pool that will be far cheaper, just like all mass insurance is.

You live in a fantasy world. Around 3 million people will lose medicare under Obama care. I would call that a change of policy. 30,000 New Yorkers have already lost their coverage because of Obamacare. Maine is exempt from Obamacare because it is going to skyrocket the cost there.

If small businesses shop around for the cheapest insurance coverage, and buy it they will lose the "grandfather" clause meaning they will have to change all their employees coverages. Millions of people (some say up to 85 million people) will have their coverage change because of this and most of the cost will be passed to the employee. IE cost goes up.

It would have been very simple to make costs go down over night. Let people buy insurance over state lines. Cost would have went down. But god forbid that happens!

Hahaha, you should try reading that on a non republican news site.

                                                            It's not 30,000 New Yorkers, it's 6,000 children's policy of 30,000 union members.

And the Union never said it was Obamacare, what they did say was in 2008 they were forced by the State to join the Family Health Plus Program, and then had Medicaid funding cut 3 times by the State. In the last 3 years, they've had to drop HALF it's members.

So the State backed out of covering the kids, and now they don't have enough money to pay for them (because the state isn't funding them), and obamacare "did not help them" but it is not the reason of it, those reasons were years in the making. HOWEVER - it will be Obamacare that picks those kids back up, so they are covered.

Corps change insurance all the time, ours just recently changed. Costs went down. That's the point of changing it.

Yeah, god for bid the Fed steps in and forces the States to change laws that each State controls, then the Right would be bitching about that.

I guess he lied if the wavered companies have to make changes to get ready for the healthcare law, correct?
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
                                                              think about that

Actually, the quote I wrote is correct - it is a quote after all, however this is the full quote. "if you like your health care plan, you keep your health care plan."

Here is the rest of your quote as well.

"When I say if you have your plan and you like it, ... or you have a doctor and you like your doctor, that you don't have to change plans, what I'm saying is the government is not going to make you change plans under health reform."

Umm, yeah corps are going to have to make changes, he actually said that many times - it's written into the laws as well. What the quote says is YOU (the person) will not have "The Gov" make you change plans - so no, he did not lie.
